Got what we went there for on a terribly cold and windy ‘Spring’ morning. Had a massive English breakfast with an incredibly big cup of coffee. The sandwich is a bit dull but you get what you pay for. Good place — well placed on the edge of Liverpool 1. I loved the name of the place — definitely an eye catcher for a first timer like me just glancing on Unilocal for a b’fast place.

I’m so pleased Hole in the Wall has two good reviews! This is the regular haunt for my mum and me when we hit the shops; it’s so unpretentious and laid back. The service is good and the so is the food: good old fashioned homemade grub. Tucked away down school lane, the café remains at the right level of quiet: it’s never empty and never dull but it doesn’t get ridiculously noisy or cramped. I think most of the customers are regulars and tend to be mums with prams or odler folk, which is nice.

This was the first visit to Hole in the Wall Café for me, and surprisingly the first ever time that I’ve ever noticed it. This is probably because I don’t walk a lot down small side streets and on this occasion I got lucky with my choice to say the least. Arguably, this was one of the best full English breakfasts I’ve had in Liverpool and I would put it up there with the best. Only costing me £4.70 for a plate crammed with 2 sausages, bacon rashers, mushrooms, plum tomatoes, toast, egg, beans, fried bread and black pudding, plus a teapot as well made me more than full. I can say that I got quality and quantity. The bacon was salty as most are and I’m just not a fan of black pudding but other than that, good to stomach and fast, friendly service. I would go back again.
