great place if you like slops. never trust a bar where the staff catch the over flow from the taps in glasses instead of the drip tray. theyll have them poisd at the ready to serve to the next unsuspecting drinker! also one of those pubs where the senior member of staff i assume the manager stands at the end of the bar playing on her phone all night or chatting away while ordering the poor young sap to run about and clear the que on there own. try the liverpool next door, respect for there customers and younger staff

Occupying what was once a bank, the First National Wine Bar has managed to keep hold of the grand architecture that makes everybody just absolutely adore the banking system so much. Solid marble columns push the ornate ceiling high up enough for a sense of monument to be achieved and the grand balcony allows you to imagine decades of sneering bank managers looking snootily down on the customers flocking in. This is a respectable enough bar that stands in a good location for you to explore the oldest areas of Liverpool afterwards. Whether I’d actually want to spend a whole night there is a different question. This is more the place that people kicked out of the neighbouring Liverpool pub will head to first. Still, if you don’t mind sitting in massive booths or eavesdropping on girls who think they’re WAGs, it can provide a few hours of amusement.

Recently went on a little trip this place is ok for 1 or 2 drinks, wouldn’t stay there the whole night although the staff were very nice and a few girls talking about wanting to be WAGS ha ha! cheap drinks compared to London like I said ok for a run up to somewhere else.

If you like your music loud and live then this is the place for you. Thursday to Sunday they have bands who will blast your ears, an ecletic mixture but if you’re lucky then you’ll find something to please, The interior is getting a bit tired and the drinks are not particulary on the cheap side for the surroundings but hey the musicians need to be paid. Not bad for an hour or two of real music but see local press for the line.
