Lots of choices and can try the instruments before buying. Professional staff with knowledge about the instruments and can demonstrate. Really recommend this place. Customer friendly.

Dawsons is an excellent place to shop for musical instruments. I was amazed to see how much they offered. There are two floors of popular instruments that included brand new and second hand pianos, standard and electric guitars and drum sets to name but a few. Also, they sell a variety of musical accessories and popular books with lyrics to popular songs. One of Michael Jackson’s had caught my eye straight away. If you’re a keen musician, you can feel free to take a demonstration with permission from staff. I’d definitely recommend here if you are a passionate guitarist too! The choice doesn’t get much better. Whether you’re looking for maracas, electric keyboards or a luxury piano, Dawsons have quality products at moderate prices. All the staff here are friendly with experienced knowledge about anything related to music.

Dawson’s has a great location within the centre of Liverpool and therefore draws in a large crowd of musical enthusiasts who are looking for their essential equipment. The city itself has a large and rich musical heritage and as such places such as this are a big crowd pleaser and fit in really well with the character of Liverpool as a city. Dawson’s has some great deals and although I am not the most musical person in the world there was plenty here to hold my interest and on the whole it was a great place to visit. The staff here were fantastic and they obviously had a great deal of knowledge about the products they are selling and this really does give you the confidence to make a purchase. The store also looks really pleasant and has great aesthetics, so on the whole a great place to see especially if you are one of the masses of Liverpudlians who adore their music.

Dawson’s should probably be considered the musicians music store as it covers just about every instrument you could wish for and the staff are ridiculously informed and enthusiastic about the subject. Other reviewers have made much about either being allowed to sample the instruments by staff or being persuaded not to which probably says more about who is serving you as I had no problem in being able to pick up a guitar and see how it felt. It’s a bit pricey here, certainly compared to some of the smaller outlets nearby, but you can’t really argue with the range and quality of goods on display.

Dawsons is one of at least three music stores on the same street, and if I’m honest it’s not my favourite. They do have a large selection of musical instruments, ranging from guitars to pianos. It’s a bit strange because you are encouraged to give the instruments a whirl, and the staff will play for you if you ask them. The quality of the instruments is great, but in this place, you pay for quality. My problem with Dawsons is that it can be slightly intimidating if you’re not exactly a music scene king/queen as all the staff are wannabe rockstars. It also seems that they try and sell you the most expensive item, rather than what you’re actually looking for.

As a rule of thumb, I’m not usually a fan of Dawsons Music. I think their shops look and feel more like department stores that happen to sell musical instruments rather than furniture and fashion. This particular branch however, seems to be run by staff that genuinely appreciate music and actively encourage customers to pick up and play the instruments. I’ve never witnessed it myself but apparently, most of the staff are musicians themselves and if asked nicely will happily perform guitar, bass and drum solos to show you the capabilities of individual models. They can also offer one to one tuition if you fancy signing up for lessons. As you’d expect, there’s a good line of guitars, bass, drums, synths, woodwind, percussion and pianos as well as PA systems, recording equipment, turntables and mixers. Further proof that this Dawsons is one worth checking out is the fact they hold regular open days where you can find out more about particular equipment and brands. There was one awhile back about new and vintage Gibson guitars and there’s one coming up on 10 April called ‘An Introduction to PA Systems.’
