Ah, Chilli Banana! Lark Lane staple and an absolute must when in Liverpool. The name is a bit weird, yes, but don’t let that fool you… Chilli Banana does absolutely gorgeous, authentic tasting, Thai food. The staff are always friendly and very helpful, absolutely no problems there. The food: well, I’ve been here so many times now(both to dine in and to take away) that I won’t go through each and every dish. Let me just say: not one has ever let me down. From the Pad Thai and the Massaman Curry to the Laad Naa and the Pad Kimow, everything lives up to and then exceeds expectations. The place is always busy but never too busy as to be off-putting and there is a always a nice atmosphere in here. Try the Chilli Banana dessert — it’s what the place is named for, after all! Very unique. When it comes to drinks there is, of course, Thai beer to go with the food which is great as I’m sure you’re aware. There is a delicious green tea on offer here also which I’m a big fan of at the end of the meal. I’ve heard one or two people say that the food in this restaurant is a little too sweet. That is the nature of a lot of Thai dishes, however. Palm sugar is a major ingredient in a lot of food in Thailand and Chilli Banana makes every effort to be as spot-on as possible. Overall, this is an absolutely stunning Thai restaurant. The food is gorgeous and extremely authentic. I can’t recommed this place enough, it’s an essential in Liverpool.

Regular visitors to Liverpool’s Lark Lane are generally speaking spoiled for choice in terms of cuisine and with Chilli Banana — at the southern end of the road — it is no different, offering beautiful Thai food and excellent service. The only problem is getting a table, especially with a large party. Recently, I and six others decided to give this restaurant a try only to be turned away temporarily as another large party were still in and it was clear from the quick peek inside how popular the eatery has become. The menu really caters for a lot of tastes, whether you are looking for spicy curry, meaty stir-fry or even rich seafood to name just a few. I, being the carnivore that doesn’t tend to go for hotter dishes, opted for the marinated sirloin steak strips followed by a beef stir-fry. Yes, I know, hardly a variety of delights but it was no less enjoyable and full of flavour despite the lack of originality on my part. What is most impressive about Chilli Banana aside from the excellent atmosphere is the service, which is exemplary. I can honestly say it feels as if there is nothing that staff couldn’t do to make your experience better. I don’t remember being made to wait long for anything, especially surprising given the high volume of visitors. If you are the owner of 1 or even 10 of those coffee shop reward card that you get stamped, believe it or not, the owners also offer a reward card where you can receive free dishes depending on how many stamps you have managed to accumulate. In a street full of colour and entertainment, this is a place worth visiting.

You know what… Chilli Bananas have a fantastic reputation in all three establishments, Macclesfield, Wilmslow and Liverpool. BUt what on earth is that logo!!! Atrocious!!! I would fire myself if I was marketing manager here!!! How can you take the place seriously when the symbol that represents you looks like something from spongebob square pants!!! Now clearly it is in direct competition with the likes of Chaophraya to take the biscuit when it comes to Thai cuisine. I have a few good Thai friends and we have always had an absolute blast when it comes to dining out at Thai eateries. ok. ok I have a blast because reading a Thai menu is just hilarious. I’m sorry but the language has some fantastic comedy value connotations! There are two satays you ca have here for example… wait for it… Mooo and Gay!!! Whoever wrote the script is a genius! The Kow Pad is absolutely delicious. A highly recommended rice noodle dish with chicken or pig, you an guess which one I’d go for right? No swine for me please! Chilli Banana is a gun restaurant and a must visit place!

Lark Lane is one of the most popular places for an evening out outside of Liverpool city centre, and a thai restaurant was an excellent addition. Chilli Banana is a thai with a slight twist on traditional, but not too far that you’re thinking«yukkkk». I’d recommend the Moo Ping to start and Pad Tai Gai as a main, the set menus are pretty good too. The prices are really good at around £5 for a starter and anywhere between £7 and £15 for a main.

Nestled at the start of Lark Lane is the best Thai restaurant outside of Liverpool city centre! Chilli Banana is unique in calibre and flavour compared to most of the Lark Lane establishments, it serves fantastic Thai dishes at very reasonable prices! Having lived in Thailand for 6 weeks over the last few years, I can personally recommend the food here as being so close to the real deal that you expect to see Tuk Tuks going up and down Lark Lane followed by dancing Krishna monks by the end of the meal. I would personally recommend the Thai Green Curry and the Thai Red Curry, although everyone I ate with said that the food was 10⁄10! The service was great and the food arrived very quickly even though we had expected to wait a while given that it was a Friday evening and the place was very busy!

Sauntering along Lark Lane looking for new restaurants to sample is one of my favourite past-times. Unsurprisingly, Chilli Banana caught my eye as it has a great name and a cool exterior. The Thai restaurant offers great traditional Thai cuisine, all of which is said to be created by the infamous May. I visited at lunch-time and sampled some great Thai tapas, including tod man pia and laab gai. It took me awhile to decide what I wanted to eat as the menu is so expansive! The staff are great though, as they’re willing to talk you through the options on offer. If you just want to munch Thai food in the comfort of your home then the restaurant also does a great takeaway service, packaging their goodies into cute take-out boxes. A great establishment.

By now you already know how much I love Lark Lane. That’s a given. I was even more in love with it when I found a Thai restaurant on it too. And another one with Banana in its name! Someday I’m going to investigate just why so many Thai restaurants focus in on the word Banana when naming their premises. Meanwhile, Chilli Banana, much as that might sound like a palette-displeasing combination(and anyone who’s tried spicy plantains will know that just isn’t the case), is sound as a pound. It might not be the cheapest eat in the neighbourhood but it’s certainly worth treating yourself, because the crispy noodles and Pad Thai are definitely very high quality. The portions aren’t huge, but Chilli Banana excels itself in terms of choice(the menu is like an encyclopaedia) and it’ll even go the extra mile. Literally. If you’re after a takeaway and can’t get over there, they don’t deliver but they will pop your food in a taxi for you and charge only £3. What a bonus!

Chilli Banana is a Thai restaurant that likes to fuse sweet and spicy, as you can tell from the name. This is the first time I experienced chilli chocolate — a chocolate dessert with chilli mixed in to give it a surprising kick — definitely the most memorable thing from the menu! The food here is traditional Thai with a few twists, but nothing too out of the ordinary. The staff are polite and happy to explain the menu if you’re a Thai novice like myself. There are also loads of menu options if you’re indecisive, like a set meal for two, starting at £43, or the spring Thai banquet, starting at £22.95. Despite being outside of the city centre, this restaurant is proving popular and I would recommend a few visits to get the taste of it.

Oh my, their Pad Thai… just delicious. I’ve tried about 4 different dishes there and everything tasted very good, very distinguished. This restaurant absolutely spoiled me and now I want to go back to Liverpool!

The food here is an excellent take on Thai food, and the interior is well decorated and atmospheric. There is plenty for everyone, including myself, as there is a good selection of vegetarian alternatives(which isn’t normally the case with far-eastern food). Overall, the place is good, but there were a couple of things which I feel let the place down a little. It is very expensive for what it is(as portions are not huge), and the last time I went I felt the service didn’t really match what I was expecting. I did feel the member of staff was quite rude at some points. However, I don’t feel this is the case with all the people who work here.

I havent acually eaten at the resturant but i have got many takeaways from there which have all been excellent and not badly priced either. They do not do delivery but at your request they put it in a taxi and send it on its way for 3 pounds. All in all a very good take a way service for resturant quality.

Amazing Thai food. Have been on numerous occasions and every time the food has been superb, especially the special crispy noodles. Not that cheap, but always reliable.
