Yummmm! This is my mum’s favourite fancy spot in town and we went for a nice Christmas Eve lunch with my Grandma here. I grabbed a glass of white wine and Boyfriend had a couple of glasses of red. They also have prosecco by the glass which is pretty rad! Mum and I shared the crab cakes, which was a good move — they were tasty and came with a nice sweet chili sauce, and a balsamic drizzle. I got ravioli for my main and although the plate looked small when it arrived, it was perfect! The ravioli were perfectly cooked and very flavourful. I had a bite of Boyfriend’s lamb ravioli with gravy and damn that was good! Very rich though, I wouldn’t have been able to eat a full plate. Everyone else got dessert and I had a bite of each — they were creamy and delicious! I had a coffee with Frangelico — I couldn’t really taste it, but it was still delicious. The food and drink is awesome, the service was good and friendly, and we had a lovely time!

Consistently high quality dining experience after multiple visits to La Coppolla! All the traditional Italian dishes served just as you’d want them by waiters who are friendly and entertaining. This place is always busy so you need to book.

I must say, I loved having lunch here when I used to work in Leamington. They food is excellent, authentic Italian and they have a great selection of wines. The staff are Italians from Turin. It’s a small joint so might be worth booking a table.

In short don’t go! I think La Coppola is living on a historic reputation, Nice setting to lure you in, though once you are in you soon find it is very cramped, the service(some of the staff barely speak English, which causes a problem if you want more information on a menu item) and the attitude of the management leaves a lot to be desired. The last 2 times I have been have been a real disappointment, this place is not cheap so you expect a decent level of service. I accept that you places can have an off day, this is why I was willing to give them a second chance. The last time we were there 15th August 2010 our order was wrong, they served the wrong meal, as it was late we accepted the wrong dish only to find if was not cooked properly either. Everyone makes mistakes but it is how they are handled that makes the difference. The restaurant manager came over at the end of the meal to deal with my complaint, he agreed the meal was not cooked correctly but was dubious about the order being wrong, so he went to check with the waiter and had a very heated discussion in the restaurant with the waiter, not something you really want to overhear. He came back and gave a half-hearted apology about the mix up. No offer to reduce the bill or throw in a complimentary coffee which would not have been too much to bear on a bill of around £70 for two. I wrote to the restaurant and as of today they have still not responded, which I think is a good indication of how much they care about their customers. I was talking about La Coppola with a friend and they had a similar poor experience, saying that it seems to have gone downhill over last few months. I wish I had the conversation prior to going then we could have avoided having a celebratory evening ruined. I won’t be returning and I will make sure that I get this message across to as many people as possible so they don’t have the evening ruined.

Fussy 1970’s style Italian restaurant expensive and claustrophobic(you might think exclusive and intimate — in which case we’ll have to agree to differ)
