Went to Fudge for my birthday this weekend — very very disappointed with the food and if I’m honest even the service. I ordered a mozzerallo and mushroom stack for starter — I got 2 mushrooms and some sort of cheese which was deep fried. It had no taste although it was warm(just). For mains I had voodoo chicken and to be honest it was hard to choose as there was nothing on the menu that grabbed me(the specials board had 2 choices which didn’t appeal). The sauce was too thick and creamy and the sweet potatoes were cold. Again, I couldn’t really taste anything. The best part of the meal was the steamed veg — I could taste them and they were lovely and crunchy! My partner also said he was disappointed with his starter and main as well. Fudge looks great from outside but that’s about it. The staff look flustered and the seating upstairs was really uncomfortable. Would not go back — sorry

Went recently, booked a table for 9pm and had to wait a lot longer than expected. Ended up sitting up on couches closed in between two tables that were eating. Almost felt forgotten. When we did finally get seated we ended up on a small wobbley table, just big enough to hold 3 people. Always sit on your tables and make sure they don’t wobble. Easy to do. I thought the menu was limited, and could of given you options on dishes. But the food was very good, and service was equal. If I hadn’t come out of the place smelling of food I would of been pleased, all they have to do is buy a new extractor fan. Was good. Would I go back? Maybe?

myself and three friends got up late on Sunday and headed over to Fudge for a very late brunch. the all day brunch menu offered full english breakfast, alongside the regular day time menu, so lots of variety for us to chose from. We ordered one full english, mussels and burgers(with home made dressings). The place was fairly busy when we arrived, but we were served quickly, and hot and cold drinks arrived in short order. The wait for the food was slightly longer than expected but quality and quantiy of food was good. I had the burger with chilli jam and sour cream, burgers come served with home cooked chunky chips which were very tasty indeed. We ordered another round of drinks with the meal, again these arrived promptly. Overall experience was very good, we were well attended to, and were not rushed at all once our meal was over; it was great to be able to sit and chat without pressure to vacate our table. Our total bill came to £50; not the cheapest for brunch but worth it for the quality and presentation of the food and friendly, well trained staff. I’d definitely return, hopefully to try the evening menu at some stage.

I’ve been to Fudge a number of times and I’ve never ever had a bad time. The staff are always very friendly, the food is always delicious and the prices are very resonable. The only negative comment I could make is that the tables are sometimes a bit squished together — but hey it’s a popular place! If you sign up to Fudges newsletter you will get emails with loads of great offers such as 2 courses for a fiver! Bargain! I would definitley reccomend as one of the best café resturants in Hull :)

Chic little eaterie purrrfect for a meal with someone yummy! The surroundings were fresh and modern, the service was friendly, attentive, polite & the food was deelish! Me & my beau savoured a main course(mine was a bowl, nay, a trough of salad with scrummy Kalamata olives and my partner had a chunky burger type affair with potato wedges) We quaffed red wine, Pimms, shared a delicious chocolate cake and took home a bag of fudge all for the very reasonable sum of £45.00. Highly recommended. I hope to return soon.

fudge is quite well known for being a fairly expensive, chic restaurant but when we treated ourselves for a special occassion we were fairly disappointed. i had a pasta dish, described sumptuously on the menu but seemed nothing ore than a simple sauce out of a jar. and not too well warmed through at that. the portion sizes weren’t very generous either.

oh how the changing face of princes avenue makes me blaise. maybe it was the pink exterior set which is at the other side of the road away from the newly redecorated overpriced food places moderate food, had basic pub food but with no rowdy sunday afternoon drinkers. very child friendly. my neice got free fudge. I had to buy some. but it was tooth tingling good. They are also innovative and community focused with a book club.

I had passed this place several times in the past and hadn’t been inspired to stop and try it, however I noticed recently on other food web sites the name kept cropping up so I decided to try it, along with my Daughter and my Partner. Well we weren’t disappointed. I started with Tame and Wild mushrooms in a paprika sauce, my partner had Chili Chicken Pancake, and my daughter Pan Fried Mackerel. After trying each others we were all in agreement as to the top quality of the starters and waited in anticipation for our main course. The BBQ Duck noodles, and mixed seafood Gumbo both the ladies had were again as expected as was the roast Guinea Fowl I had. To end the meal we had Cheesecake and Chefs Hot Pancakes, my daughter opted for the mixed Fudges, and yes these were just as good as the previous courses. In my book for 3 courses plus a bottle of house Wine, Malibu and calypso coffee for less than £30.00 a head I wasn’t going to complain. The place doesn’t grab you from the outside but take it from me I won’t be dismissing this one as quickly next time. The waitress said during the week they are never over busy so if you’ve got a spare evening go on treat ‘Er indoors’ and give it a whirl.
