Just brilliant Thai and they don’t have a licence so you can bring your own! Booking preferable as it’s does get busy.

Oh I love this place. It’s magical. The food’s always lovely, the staff are attentive and genuine, and the bill’s a nice surprise. Yep the toilets aren’t great, but just go before you get there!

I absolutely love this place. After being introduced to it by friends I’ve taken several friends and family members along, all of whom were absolutely delighted by the atmosphere, the food and the service. They offer two different evening sittings(one at 7pm and one at 9pm if my memory serves me correctly), but it gets so busy that if you don’t book you probably won’t get in. Red Snapper offers something a little different compared to other Thai restaurants in Brighton — firstly, it’s a BYOB(Bring Your Own Booze) restaurant. This makes for a surprisingly significant reduction in your bill when compared to most places. Secondly, the food is divine. If you’re going here for the first time, you have to try their signature ‘Red Snapper’ dishes which are chunky, wonderfully fishy and bursting with flavour. Their green curry is delicately flavoured and lovely, but I have to warn you that although it was equally delicious, the red curry blew my head off just a little(I’m not a fan of the overly spicy). My favourite starter EVER is chicken satay(I have it at every Chinese restaurant I go to) and Red Snapper’s did not disappoint. Finally, the best restaurants serve great food in a great environment and Red Snapper does just that. Arranged over two floors connected by a narrow staircase, it’s so small and comfortable it’s like sitting in someone’s house. The only downside is that it does get VERY warm in here, which isn’t particularly attractive when eating curries.

I think Samantha has accidentally written about the Red Snapper on Dyke Road. However, her review seems fairly accurate apart from the location. Situated just off Western Road the Red Snapper is a wonderful little Thai restaurant, the kind that always satisfies no matter what the context. Laid out over three individually styled floors it is never short of character and with such delicately prepared dishes it would be a crime not to visit at least once. The thing that makes it different from most Thai places is its attention to authenticity and fineness rather than style and spice. It’s perfect for dinner in almost any situation but, if you’re strolling down Western Road looking for some mid day sustenance, why not make use of their great lunch deals(one course £3.95 or two courses £4.95). Highly recommended!

They don’t have liqueur license but you can bring a bottle. The staff are friendly and they food is authentic and delicious. Its a little out the way near Seven Dials which means it can suffer a bit from lack of custom. Its a small but cosy place with traditional Thai décor, and has a nice atmosphere even when its dead. Its deffo worth popping in if you like Thai and its even wroth missioning out of town for the slightly cheaper prices.

I’m doing the grand tour of Thai restaurants(see my reviews on Circus Circus and The Pond) and Red Snapper definitely deserves a stop on any tour. I’ve already given The Pond top spot in the Thai food rankings, but I have to admit it’s a close thing. I went for The Pond because of the excellence of all their courses but Red Snapper actually has a more extensive menu and more of a bustling atmosphere– so it’s not really a second place more just a different type of first place. This system of mine is completely logical I think, right… Anyway, Red Snapper, in my experience is excellent for lovers of fish particularly, with a whole range of exciting fish dishes. Their veggie dishes are not as good as The Pond but pretty tasty, just filled with more run of the mill vegetables. The Phad Thai were excellent, but the deserts disappointing– so a little hit and miss I guess. This Hove branch of the Red Snapper(there is also one in Seven Dials) is filled with small darkly lit rooms spread higgledy-piggledy through the building and is great for going out with friends.
