Delicious food with a good menu, offering a good number of meat and fish deals with some options for veggies. Very definitely freshly made, they dealt with our table of 6 with ease, even though they apologised when we ordered that they had no waiting staff in tonight! Starters at about £3 each and main meals from £9.50 for veggie, then £10+ for different meats. We were too happily full to even look at a dessert but we all had beautiful teas with our meal. The attention to detail, Brighton-style, was lovely. Our tea was served with matching cups and teapots for teas for 2, all different and original pretty china. The rice served shaped, in a star and hearts– twee and too girly for some, a cute attention to detail for me– It’s nice to know it’s not just been slopped on a plate! Prices, I would say, are standard for Thai but definitely good value for the calming, relaxed atmosphere and the freshness of the food. Not being a local, I would definitely risk getting lost on a daytrip to find it.

I’m so pleased I’ve finally got around to visiting Tookta’s café, a small Thai establishment down Spring Street(just off Western Road) which opened earlier this year. Very friendly and quick service, with generous portions. The only two things that may put people off is the relatively bright lighting and the basic décor. However, unless you’re going out for a romantic meal, don’t let this put you off because the food is fantastic — especially considering the good prices. Quite possibly the best Thai meal I’ve had in the UK for years; the freshest and juiciest prawn on toast I’ve possibly ever had; and a gorgeous red Thai curry sauce. The tofu tasted a bit ‘deep fat fryer’ but the rest of the meal was virtually done to perfection and my partner’s meal(prawn red Thai curry) was, if anything, better. Oh, the wine list is very limited, but when the food is this good I’m more than happy to stick to Chang or Singha lager.
