Pre-made, grab and go selections are what makes Pret A Manger a winner. A veritable feast for the eyes and palate, I was very impressed with the selection and the taste of the sandwiches and salads at Pret A Manger in Heathrow Airport. We don’t have a Pret A Manger in Toronto, but I’ll tell you we desperately need one. Even a freshly made Subway sandwich ranks second next to a pre-made Chicken, Bacon, and Avocado Pret A Manger sandwich. The salads are also creative and taste fresh. I had the tasty Falafel Mezze Salad. Long looking lines, but with excellent, quick and efficient service.

I actually wrote a review while waiting for my flight the other day … wireless didn’t work too well, so must have got lost in transit! It always feels a bit wrong reviewing one of a thousand idendical branches of a big sandwich chain, but airport outlets are a bit more relevant. In this weird inbetween world past security it is comforting to be able to tuck into something familiar. Pret A Manger is hidden away in a corner but still attracts a good crowd — after all, they have a captive audience. Seating options are similarly unimaginative and I’m not sure whether they are really worth the surcharge. As most airlines don’t provide much inflight catering any more, a Pret sandwich is a good option — and is bound to make your fellow passengers very envious.

If you’re looking for a decently healthy, moderately priced meal in London Heathrow, this is a decent option. I stopped in and grabbed a salad with tuna and egg along with a side of salmon and quinoa. Both were ok. Nothing special, but as good as you would expect for € 10 in the airport. If you have time, you’re better off sitting down for a meal. If you aren’t going to be in the airport for a long layover, just wait to get to your destination. But if you have to eat here, it’s a decent option.

Adequate and good fare for an airport stop. Self service, seating options inside and good people watching.

Best service in Heathrow! Got stuck for 6 hours due to a cancellation. Although incredibly busy, the people were incredibly amazing. The food was outstanding as well. Fresh, easy, low cost and TASTY. Try the Hot roasted chipotle chicken sandwich…

I absolutely love this place! They have such a great selection of sandwiches. My fave is the chicken caesar on a baguette. They also let you pay in US dollars, for those of you who haven’t had a chance to exchange your currency.

I’m a simple girl with a slight caffeine addiction. I just want a flat white and don’t feel the need to wait 10 people deep in line at Nero’s that’s all. Reliable, fast and fresher sandwiches than Caffé Nero. Thanks very much Pret!

After a 2 hour layover turned into 5, I became an expert on Terminal 1 food offerings and Pret comes out on top. The various boxed salads and sandwiches all were a class above other take away establishments in the terminal. I had a nice smoked salmon and crayfish salad that really hit the spot. I grabbed a bag of beetroot, carrot and parsnip crisps at the cashier and found them distinctive and tasty — I just wish the bag was bigger. Not knowing the chain very well, I can’t compare the décor with other locations. While the white hexagon tiles was inviting on the surface, the longer one stands on line, the more it felt like a NY subway bathroom meets a butcher. The lines move quickly though, so I didn’t nave too much time to dwell on it. It still beat the other food purveyors near by.

I love blueberry muffins. I’m American, and blueberry muffins are about as American as Apple Pie. I’ve had a million of them, from all across the States, and I can honestly tell you that I’ve not had a GOOD one since about, oh… 1997. I find it interesting that the first REALLY good blueberry muffin I’ve had in twelve years was not in America at all, but in LONDON, at THEAIRPORT. I’ve been a fan of Pret for a while. I love their croissants, their beverages, and many of their sandwiches. But I’ve not seen the blueberry muffin at any of their locations in town. It was only on my way out that I finally saw it. And to be honest, I didn’t get it at first. I went with my tried & true almond croissant(…and it was lovely, as usual). But I couldn’t stop thinking about that blueberry muffin, so, rationalizing that I was about to step onto an 11-hour flight, and that I wouldn’t get another opportunity to try this one for another few months(at least), I decided to go ahead & get it, and simply find the right moment to eat it during my flight. And oh, what a moment it was! This thing was GORGEOUS!!! Wonderful texture; big, delicious blueberries; gorgeous blueberry goo on the inside… Really, this is the best blueberry muffin I’ve had in A LONGTIME. Totally redefined the item itself, setting a new standard in the process. Well-executed, and they brought something new to the table with the blueberry goo(for lack of a better term). It deserves a really good coffee beside it. Pret has done it: They’ve done an American dish better than the Americans. Cheers to them on that. They should be proud. And they should keep this item on their menu. It needs to be publicised & marketed. And I hope they do so. This one’s a winner.
