It has a nice mix of people and a relaxing atmosphere. We’re here on Easter Sunday and it’s neither dead nor too busy. Drinks are reasonably priced and the service is quick and pleasant.

Absolutely terrible service. Not blaming the staff, probably wasn’t enough of them. Five of our party of six finished their meal before we asked were the sixth one was! They had forgotten. Another 15 minutes wait, which was just as well given that it was taking 15 minutes to get a drink! One of the dishes didn’t even have all the accompaniments. I know they aren’t particularly expensive, but this is ridiculous. Some people at the bar complaining their meals ordered over an hour ago had not been received.

So was here today to meet my son for lunch. Its a very old historic building, its part of the old turkish baths. Its unlike most wetherspoons in that until you actually get to the bar you wouldnt imagine you are in one of their pubs. However the bar confirms you are — staffed by student types, no obvious managment, same beers and drinks on offer. Its not a bad place but I dont think its somewhere I would chose to go to as a regular pub. We had a couple of drinks and a bit of lunch, we went for the chicken kebabs which were over cooked and dry, saved only by copious amounts of piri piri dip. Of course price wise even for Harrogate its cheap, £20.004 drinks and lunch. Conclusion is you could do a lot worse but you can also do a lot better than this place.

This Wetherspoons is actually one of the nicest looking ‘Spoons I have been in, but this is ‘Harra-gate’ we are talking about here ‘dahhhhling!’ Land of the posh and a place historically known for luxury. Home to nearly all of Yorkshire’s loaded OAP population, people too rich to live in Leeds, one foot in the grave types and fake ten bob millionaires(though I’ve been told there are council estates hidden away in Jennyfield and in Carmires in Knaresbrough). This one craps all over the ones in Leeds which all look terrible. It actually surprised me how nice this one looks as I came in here with low expectations. The building looks very grand and they haven’t done a bad job at making it look nice, just a pity it’s a ‘Spoons! It could have been something better! This one really was full of pensioners and old people though(Harrogate is known as Yorkshire’s knackers yard) and when it came to food, drink and service it was your average ‘Spoons chain. I guess the clientele were a bit more civilised as we were in a nice area! If I could vote for the best Wetherspoons though then this one is it. 4 stars just to congratulate JD ‘Spoons on their effort at making this one look nice and different. Now make the Leeds ones look nice!

okay i don’t know about any other of the wetherspoons but the one in ripon is really dark and dingy inside half of it isn’t even lit! anyone who has been here will agree with me on that! the food is expensive and comes on a big plate but only fills half of the plate and little of your stomach not good if your lining it! the drinks are good only a fiver for two jagerbombs and 6.99 for a pitcher(its best not to share!) if your going you must try woowoo and ameretto, my two favourites! it’s good in the sense that although it’s a pub and can rowdy on occasion it’s bouncers are really nice(not if your being kicked out i guess lol) but also it dosent feel like a pub, or it feels like a ‘posh’ pub, no-ones crowded round a tv in football shirts, instead everones sat down on luxurious furniture… who’d ever thought a pub could be sophisticated? verdict: don’t bother if your a loud trouble maker or some lanky 15 year old trying to get served… it just dosent work here

Absolutely wonderful décor; it seemed a shame that in all its history, this super Victorian pile is now just a pub. They have maintained the grandeur of the décor, though, and it still ahs a rather hushed feel, like a library with beer. Speaking of which, the selection before me was limited to 3 guests. The first one was not good, stale, and on the turn. Not that the staff had any clue. But the York Centurion was good, and a fair price too.

This is the nicest weatherspoons i have been in. The building is very grand and has really high ceilings. The menu and drinks are the same as any other whetherspoons. Good value drinks and food. The setting was really nice and was really clean. They do not show sport or have music on — there were tv screens showing the news but on quiet.

Another cheap venue for food and drink, this wetherspoons bar is somewhat different to any other I have been in thanks to its high ceilings and original features, there is a small seating area at the entry by the main road but the majority of the bar is down the stairs and is truely huge, the bar is pretty big but often two or three deep such is the capacity of the place though the staff are quick and friendly so the waits never seem to great. Food comes quickly and is tasty, though it is no different to the standard menus found in ‘spoons. Their no music policy is a god send in a town where every other bar seems to have the music on full and the constant showing of sky news means you can get a feel for the goings on in the world around you. Next to a small pay and display car park you have to remember to pay until midnight which is somewhat later than most other car parks in the area but it is cheap.
