I only popped in for an afternoon drink but I liked the place, good atmosphere, good coffee, great music and real ale to boot. The prices seemed very good for it’s location. Wish I had the chance to spend an evening there to sample food and live music. It was Betty’s or The Blues. The Blues won. I just wish we had something like it in Warrington.

This is not a bar. It’s an institution. 22 years old this year, the Blues Bar is a much-loved, treasured part of Harrogate’s social scene. There’s live music every night of the week and during the day, a relaxed chilled out atmosphere to enjoy some grub and a cuppa or even sample some of the fine lagers on offer via both tap and bottle. Some of the very best local bands feature on the latest listings, while the likes of Jools Holland and Van Morrison have graced the place in its long history in music. Who else do you need to give the place a seal of approval? Me, you say? Well, it’s got it.

The only bad thing about this place is that I live so far away. Excellent ale, excellent live music, excellent crowd, excellent atmosphere. What more can I say. Go there. Open in the day for food also but never been there then but it does look busy throughout. Very popular

I love to go to Blues bar. The bands they get on are always good. You can go and watch live music whatever your age. It is very crowded and hot but worth it. In the Summer the crowd spill out onto the grass outside. Sometimes there are several bands on around the town on the same night so people circulate around them but I tend to stay at Blues Bar. The Managers i believe now own a hotel and special offers can be obtained to help you enjoy your night and not have to worry about getting home.

A really excellent live music venue with music on almost every night. There’s some excellent food available here too as well as a nice selection of beer. It does get over-crowded on busier nights and you can’t move near the bar(it was hell in here before the smoking ban!). This place consistently getsvoted in the top 10 live music venues in the Uk I’m told and you can see why(if you can cope with being squeezed into a sardine tin!).
