Pop-up restaurant in Exchange Square with pretty good bbq food at amazing prices. The main restaurant isn’t that big with maybe 15 or so tables(though the tables are quite large). It feels almost like a pub inside more than a restaurant but there is full table service. I went with 2 other friends and we each had the steak and shared the ribs. The food wasn’t spectacular but it was really good. However at 15 for the full rack of ribs, and 10 for the steak(including chips and coleslaw), this place is incredible value and I’d definitely go again. The apple pie for dessert was great too with a generous amount of ice cream. They also have a good alcohol menu(nice beer selection, decent cocktail selection) which likewise is well-priced.

This place isn’t here long, so get a move on! Bar BBQ On Ice is a temporary pop up in Exchange Sq sitting right alongside the Broadgate Ice Skating Rink. The focus is on American style comfort food from ribs, pulled pork and roast chicken to familiar favourites like mac & cheese, steak & ale pie and just pure steak if you’re inclined. Pricing is actually completely sensible and the food top notch. However this being a temporary pop up made from wood slats and stuffed with heaters in the middle of a really cold square, is absolutely freezing in the evenings. Quite honestly the interior felt colder than outside, which is pretty warm on account of the massive heaters that feel like the sun when you accidentally get too close upon standing. We sat outside and you get a really nice view of the skating rink. Staff patrol the outside quite frequently so you’re never scrambling to find somebody to order a drink from. We ordered pretty much everything on the menu owing to the face we had our Club Individual cards loaded with £20 free credit each which are accepted here. You can see from the pictures, which don’t do it true justice. But take my word, all the food is super super good. In the end the bill for all the food plus 2 shakes came up to £50 and this was only to share between 2 people! Using our credit, we only ended up paying £10 However even at £25 per head I wouldn’t hesitate to eat everything I did again at full price. Staff were great throughout the night. Checking we were okay with food and drinks, providing recommendations. If you can, give this place a try, it’s open 7 days a week till quite late until Feb 2014 so you’ve no excuse! There’s even a takeaway bit if you don’t have time for a sit down meal!
