Aikman Flooring specializes in Carpets, Vinyl and Luxury Vinyl Tiles (LVT’s) like those produced by Karndean, Camaro and Amtico.

We carry out our service to both domestic and commercial clients.

In the domestic market we mostly install carpets and vinyl.

We supply all brands available in the marketplace, names like Abingdon, Cormar and Mr Tomkinson for carpets, to Rhinofloor, Tarkett and Forbo for vinyl.

Luxury vinyl tiles have become very popular today. Manufacturers like Karndean have created beautiful options, which are endless and truly inspirational. We are specialists in the installation of Lvt’s and can carry out installations from the most basic to the most challenging with confidence.

We are skilled floor layers who have adapted to a changing market place through the years. In years gone by carpets and vinyl were prominent, today Lvt’s, laminates, woods and tiles are also popular. Its important to evolve, as we do.

We also carry out our service to commercial businesses.

History

Established in 2000.

Aikman Flooring started trading as flooring suppliers and installers in 2000.

At the beggining Terry worked in the domestic marketplace, fitting carpets and vinyl for the general public through word of mouth recommendations and as a sub contractor for various carpet shops in the Falkirk area. Over the next few years the customer base of Aikman Flooring had grown substantially due to the hard work put in by Terry. Customers would keep coming back and spread the good work, this allowed Terry to employ an apprentice. Over the years 4 apprentices have been trained.

As the business continued to grow, Aikman Flooring supplied its services to the commercial field. Many large projects have been carried out for businesses like Mgm Timber, First Bus, Masterton Demolition to name but a few.

Today, we have moved the business to the on line market. We showcase our service and products on our web site and also feature on Rated People where many more satisfied customers have found us.

Business Owner

Terry Aikman operates his flooring business from a small office in Falkirk.

In 1993 Terry entered the flooring trade as an apprentice floor layer for a small, but very professional carpet and flooring specialist. In this time Terry learned the skills required to install carpet and vinyl, among other products.

Attendance at Glasgow College of Building and Printing would also play a part in the apprenticeship, learning mostly about industrial flooring, like Safety flooring, Marmolleum and Lino vinyl tiles, like those produced by Karndean and Amtico.

The key aspect of floor laying, sub floor preparation was also learned and through the years proved invaluable.

In 2000 Terry enrolled as a student at Glasgow Central College of Commerce, where after 2 years received an HNC in Legal Services, where he learned among other laws, Business Law. This would prove of great use as in October 2000 Terry started up his own business, Aikman Flooring which still operates successfully 13 years later.
