Established in 2012.

Nextgenergy was established after its founder, Shirley Paterson, successfully implemented energy-​saving measures in her home & installed renewable technologies — see www​.ener​gysav​ingtrust​.org​.uk, Scotland, Green Homes Network, Glenrothes, 2^nd house — ref SE583. She has a solar pv system, a PassivEnergy Management System which can control a gas/​oil/​lpg boiler, providing advanced control of central heating & innovative water heating. Also now has a Smart Immersion Switch and Smart Plugs to make use of excess solar generation to heat water & to power appliances for free. Her home has 66 fixed lights, of which 63 (95%) are energy efficient. Her domestic energy bill is now in profit — receiving significantly more income from her energy supplier via a quarterly Feed In Tariff for her solar pv, than she pays on a monthly basis for her combined gas and electricity bill — effortless energy-​saving is easily achievable. Shirley is passionate about renewable technologies & energy-​saving in an effortless way. Her interest has been traced back to visiting the Centre of Alternative Technology in Wales as a teenager. She also attended an Energy Efficiency workshop in 1996 when employed by Diageo & used Energy-​Saving as a training session topic when undertaking a 6-​month Training of Trainers programme. Her husband, George, has been employed in the renewable technology sector for 15 years, re power & battery management systems for electric vehicles — as Engineering Manager & now Director of Sales — so she has learned from him over the years. She had a solar pv system installed, then promoted the benefits of solar pv to neighbours, friends & relatives — ‘selling’ 8 systems before she had set up nextgenergy. Local family business, RB Grant Electrical Contractors, discovered Shirley — winning business through her recommendations — she is now delighted to be linked with RB Grant as nextgenergy’s installer.
