This is one of the biggest tesco’s ive been in and has recently had a bit of a refurb. The café is now downstairs next to the crèche and there is now an upstairs with a claires accessories and sports shop. The clothes section is ok but i orefered it before the upgrade. The click and collect kiosk is still upstairs with a large technology shop and also dvds and cd section. There is now a hair salon downstairs and an opticions too. The frozen gluten free range is quite pathetic here to be honest and this is why the store losses a star. Overall its a reasonably decent store but i still prefer to do my main shop at asda.

Do you remember the old Armando Iannucci programme ‘Time Trumpet’ which is set in the not-to-distant future and is based on the talking head ‘I Remember 1980′-type programmes? Well, just in case you don’t, in one episode, Tesco goes to war with Denmark. In fact, Tesco rises up on hydraulic legs and stampedes across Demark, leaving utter devastation in its path. I can’t help but think of this every time I visit Tesco, especially such a vast one as the St Rollox store, and I’m convinced that if the apocalypse ever comes, the only things that will remain will be cockroaches, Keith Richards and Tesco. Anyway. I guess there must be some benefit to Tesco being so ubiquitous, most notably being there when I’m drenched, on foot and urgently requiring basic food(such an incompetent adult am I that I frequently run out of bread and milk, and am often forced to rely on scrounging teabags from kind neighbours. God, I hate me). Negotiating my way around this vast hellhole was a logistical nightmare: although the aisles are large, people seem to charge round corners, bang into you and continue to bang into your heels with their trolleys. Personal space doesn’t seem to exist in Tesco’s reich. The staff that I’ve had to deal with in this store(obviously this doesn’t stand for all of them) have been unhelpful and unpleasant. Horror of horrors, I once had to ask where something was, and the girl I asked audibly sighed and shrugged her shoulders, before fobbing me off to another, equally surly, colleague, who made it quite clear that she thought I should bugger off and leave her alone. Though, to be fair, maybe the Tesco reich should pay their staff more. They can afford it, after all, and it might make their staff a bit happier and more helpful. The clothes in Tesco are terrible, as are the accessories and shoes. You can buy shoes for about £40, yet they look plastic, cheap and nasty. A complete waste of money. Any t-shirts or dresses I’ve bought from here have shrunk in the wash. And no, I’m positive I haven’t just got fatter, how dare you suggest such a thing! The technology department doesn’t seem to be up to much either. I went with my sister and her mother-in-law to get said mother-in-law a Blu Ray player, and although one member of staff told us he would check in the back for a specific player, he swiftly went away, forgot about us and started laughing with his friend. However, if there’s one thing you do not do, it is cross my sister, and she complained in wonderfully eloquent, but terrifying, terms, and I must admit that the manager was nice and very apologetic. For such a large store, I also don’t think empty shelves are a good sight to see, yet there were plenty here. It gave the impression that people were stocking up for some kind of impending apocalypse… *Cue dramatic ‘Tesco vs. Denmark and now the rest of the world’ apocalypse-appropriate music*

Imagine if you had travelled forward in time from the 60’s to 2010 and landed in Tesco Extra. You would be like,“Fuuuuuu. This is even better than Star Trek!” But the thing is, it’s not like Star Trek because I know for a fact that Captain Kirk couldn’t walk half a mile for a loaf of bread. In the real world, this is my «local» Tesco. It’s the nearest big place to shop(or cheapest in a taxi) from the city centre. Because of its size I can get absolutely all I need in one trip each month.

I can easily lose several hours in this place, in between wandering through the many grocery aisles and being distracted by the impressive clothing and accessories department. This great big store has absolutely everything you need, with a massive selection of brands and special offers to grab your attention. The shelves are always well stocked and there are always plenty of staff on hand to point you in the right direction, in this massive maze of a shop. In recent years, Tesco has definitely upped its game in the fashion department, offering gorgeous dresses and on trend accessories that manage to find their way into your weekly shopping trolley. All of this and it’s open 24 hours a day, perfect if you fancy a spot of 3am shopping when you have the place to yourself.

One of the biggest Tesco’s I have ever been in, for sure. It has all that you would expect from a Tesco, including a really good bakery and meat counter. It’s big enough to offer a lot of variety, with a good range of toiletries and as always, good promotions. They also have a really good upstairs with clothing and electrical goods where I picked up a cheap blender that has made my kitchen look a bit more elegant. There’s also a café upstairs which is actually quite decent, well priced, and saved my life when I went last week because I somehow forgot to eat dinner and found myself feeling faint walking around the shop for half an hour. Open 24 hours as well.

Okay, so I know you’re thinking that this is a bit of a long shot — but I am asking you to get excited about a supermarket here. But this isn’t just any old Tesco — this is the biggest Tesco I have ever seen. In my life. Forget the food, this Tesco has a whole floor dedicated to clothes, appliances and electricals. Most importantly, the clothes section is HUGE and stocks everything that Tesco have on their new and improved clothes website. They also have really good deals on DVDs, last time I was there I found classics such as ‘When Harry Met Sally’ for the miniscule amount of £2. Bargain! As for the food itself, this Tesco has huge Delicatessen section, as well as a butchers, a bakers and a takeaway counter — as well as what feels like miles of food aisles bursting with yummy foodstuffs… Only bad thing about this supermarket is that it’s not really accessible unless you have a car. If you do, though, there’s a huge carpark with a Tesco Petrol Station. It’s also(gasp) open a full 24 hours — so if you want to go clothes shopping at 2am, you’re in luck.

This is other Tesco Supermarket which I have been to there a few times. However this supermarket is just like any other every day Tesco Supermarket, but this shop-floor is strangely placed and are very weird and confusing. I believe it is a very old Tesco, which they have those Delicatessen and Fish in the middle of the shop-floor? I thought it was usually placed at the back wall. not centrally?! My shopping experience with this store is not very pleasant, as it is strangely placed, and very confusing. Even it was confusing into trying to get out of their car park! Even their décor is bit outdated I think it would be the best thing, to knock it down, and to revamp it completely. Also to improve the car park, to make it more accessible, and also easily to get out of the car park as well! Crap store Never went back again.

My experience of this store is pretty much the same as iimacbain’s . I used to work near the store and used to come here quite reguarly. The staff are always unfriendly and can’t really be bothered to help you at all .It is always a mess as well, every time i went they semed to be filling the shelves and the staff dont like moving out your way at all to let you by. It was also quite dangerous anytime i was in as they were always wheeling about those big yorkie’s and i was almost hit a few times . Although the store is massive it is all a bit jumbo’d up with things everywhere and i dont think that it will have got any better since they added the 2nd floor to it . To be honest i would give this place a miss really . Oh and before i forget the car park entrance is quite dodgy and i have seen a few crashes happen outside there and the petrol station situated at the entrance.

Situated across from Costco there is a huge variety of goods on sale and it has 24 hour opening 7 days a week. When I was in this store the other night with a friend we found it fairly cold inside and the café was shut around 6pm. Also this meant that the toilets were shut off even though you didn’t have to go through the café to get to them. To finish it all we had to stand for ages waiting to pay as there were only 2 people on upstairs with a huge queue. To make matters worse the girl who served us had problems with her till which kept crashing after every customer. Even when we complained at the customer service desk we were left with the distinct impression that it would not be taken further, not least because they didn’t write it down.

Super Big Tesco Store, that is being extended at the moment into a 2 storey tesco. Apart form food, they sell just about everying — clothes, DIY, toys, DVD’s, home furnishings. Very handy being open 24 hours a day. Only complaint is that their bakery section has almost nothing late at night. Parking is easy there are hundreds of spaces.
