As a combined supermarket and cash&carry, it offers plenty of choice(though a bit less than others in the area), it’s fairly well stocked, and the staff are friendly. Good value too. A downside is that it has a slightly dreary atmosphere, but otherwise fine.

Costco’s would be my preferred choice of cash and carry. This store looks disorganised with cardboard boxes lining the floor due to the freezers and fridges leaking and that awful smell of sourness when water soaks into the cardboard and gives that strong bitter smell. Throughout the store there is poor lighting, and no music, there is no one to welcome you, You would get better deals at other cash and carry’s and customer service.

To make Chinese dishes its fantastic, a bit more limited that See Woo up the road. The thing is its not very inviting a place, no one seems to want to help you or even say hello, I kind of feel like I should hurry up and buy my things. I don’t know about the lighting in the sore either, its just all a bit cold feeling. There isn’t much at Chung Yings that makes you want to buy more or stay to shop. But what do I know, I guess I have been spoiled with the bright lights, cheery music and helpful staff from the likes of Asda and Tesco. I wouldn’t really choose to go in here again, just not a great feeling and I leave without the smile I went in with.

This great big Chinese supermarket is absolutely wonderful, filled with everything you could possibly want to make your very own Chinese dishes at home, from fresh fruit and veg to some odd looking objects that I was unable to identify. My very favourite thing here is the green tea, which you can purchase in a can!(as well as by the usual bag variety of course). I can highly recommend the cans of peach green tea: really refreshing, delicious and good for you too! I’m also partial to a wee jasmine tea, which you can buy here amongst a massive variety of others. There is also an amazing aisle full of weird and wonderful confectionery, including sesame seed brittle type things and a whole load of other goodies to sink your poor teeth into. Located just behind Caledonian University, you might previously haven’t spotted this place, but I would highly recommend a wee wander inside to sample the authentic delights within.
