All Sorts

The last time I was in here the woman freely admitted she had a very serious problem — she can’t stop going to car boot sales! Hence this shop being packed full of everything under the sun. If you root around for long enough, you will perhaps even find the sun somewhere, along with the rest of the solar system — it’ll be under the pile of clothes at the back.
Despite the vast quantity of stock, the woman does strive to keep it tidy — they only reason it seems so claustrophobic is that she is working in a cofined space.
There is an overspill of second hand wares outside — namely shoes and the odd rollerskate. Inside, there is an abundence of clothes from all origins imaginable. Behind you, there is a large stock of jewellery, some sterling silver, and towards the back there’s a fuddle of smaller furnishings, CD’s, crockery, movies, electrical appliances. There’s more where these came from in the window, too — all in all no doubt you’ll find something of this kind that you may or may not need.
I enjoy shops like this which are busy with stock! And, like the majority of shops in this area, it doesn’t sell itself as antique to get an extra tenner out of you. It does what it says on the tin — offers you an assorted bag of second hand goods that are also good quality.

I like shops with self-​explanatory names. No superfluous nouns, no witticisms. If you sell socks, The Sock Shop, if you sell hats, the Hat Shop, if you sell, well, you get the picture.
So what sort of a shop name is «All Sorts» then? Well a very apt one as it turns out. Bruised and battered trainers scattered on the outside lie beside well-​preserved paintings, while the inside is a veritable treasure chest of bric-​à-​brac and lots of things you may want but not necessairly need. The staff member on duty when I visited seemed to take great pride in her shop and was extremely helpful, which is just as well because this place really is not for the faint-​heared.
Having spent much of the past few weeks wandering the streets of Glasgow, it has struck just how many shops like this there are in the city. Either we’re a city of bargain-​hunting junk lovers or discerning vintage-​cravers, whichever it is, this is definitely one of the better shops to scratch that itch, providing you have plenty of rummaging time on your hands.

Oh dear oh dear. If you have OCD or are in the slightest bit freaked out by stuff EVERYWHERE!!!, then i would give this place a very wide berth. As cluttered as a magpies nest, All sorts has a wide selection of new and nearly new… stuff.
If i’m being honest i’, not entirely sure what to class this place as or even how to begin to review it. It’s mental. However, for those of you out there who love a good dig around in the search for hidden treasure then this place is well worth a visit, if you can find your way out OK.
In fact i’m thinking about printing a T shirt with «i survived All Sorts, give me a hug», any pre orders?
Anyway, my wife took her mum here when she was visiting and she adored it. spent close to an hour untangling some jewellery which the lady gave to her for a stupidly low price, i think mainly because she couldn’t be arsed untangling it herself.
