O.K. There are fish and chippy’s all over, and then there are those rare few that really transcend the ordinary, without pretending to be anything else. This is one of those. Family run, immaculately clean, including the windows, that look over the good view of the harbor. Generous portions of sustainably caught fish well prepared. Service very friendly and attentive. Decent beer and cider to wash down the fish. They strive for quality and succeed. Highly recommendable.

Harbour Lights was recommended by the Guardian in its budget places for South Cornwall. After a nice little hike over in St. Ives, we made our way to Falmouth, and down to Harbour Lights. We arrived around 2pm, and got a table by the windows that overlook the quay and harbor. Looking at the menu, they have a great selection of fish, and they’ve won awards for sustainability. I got the Cornish Haddock, with 50⁄50 salad and chips. Jimmy got the cod. I thoroughly enjoyed my fish. The batter was quite light and crispy, easily some of the best flour batter I’ve enjoyed on fish. The chips were clearly cut from fresh potatoes in house, with that certain mouth feel that you get from fresh potatoes. The salad was crisp and fresh, adding greenery crunch to the rest of the plate. There’s a take away counter in the front with a separate line. The restaurant itself is bright and airy, with white walls, black and white photos of the family’s children, and a wall of windows. Definitely worth a stop if you’re in the area.

Great cod and chips bit of a wait but well worth it. Big portion and nice crispy batter.

I would have to disagree; they are the best Fish and Chips in Falmouth. Far superior to the well known newcomer from Padstow and cheaper as well. When you order Cod and Chips here it’s what you get, not some mankey old bit of white fish. Just don’t be tempted to go to their Truro branch, they are PANTS!

Traditional fish and chip shop on the quay at the end of the town, has been in business for ages and is a bit of an institution. It’s open all day for takeaway and has a large restaurant in the back with offers on soft drinks for sitting in. It’s not the best Fish and Chips you can get in Falmouth but its certainly your best choice when your in the town itself, you can always get a small portion of chips then go into onto the quay(they serve them in faux newspaper wrappings), just watch out for the seagulls!
