If you walk past The Grapes the punters standing outside are often aggressive and intimidating. It has a reputation and I wouldn’t touch it with a barge pole.

This place has really gone down hill since I last went there. Tables were sticky and covered in crumbs, toilets somewhat smelly and grotty feeling, strong smell of old cheap chip fat as you went down stairs, the place needs a good lick of paint generally. Staff snappy, rude and unhelpful and the cocktails we had were hilariously bad. NEVER EVER AGAIN will any of our group set foot in this place. Was so bad it was actually funny but only ‘cos we knew we were about to leave. Hideous experience all round!

Grape is a wine bar located on the corner of St Andrews Square. It’s a lovely building and fantastic location, but in general i think the bar is a bit lacking.
There are a nice selection of places to sit; either comfy sofas or tables and chairs, and there is a large selection of wine on offer (as you would expect), but the place just doesnt have an atmosphere. Staff seem quite surly and it can be difficult to get their attention at the bar on a busy night.
Perhaps it’s because if it’s size, but it really reminds me of a slightly upmarket Weatherspoons (but without the prices to match). Food was fairly average, and to be honest i think you could find better, cheaper food elsewhere in the area.

I am not quite sure what this bar is trying to be really. It sets itself out to be a wine bar with a nice range of wines but during the day serves basic pub grub — nachos etc — and at night is like your typical George Street pub, with all the usual office types hanging about drinking beer and cocktails. It is also a really awkward shape and doesn’t have adequate seating, although the seats it does have are very comfortable.
It doesn’t really have a vibe and comes across as feeling quite cold. I have had lunch there and been for a few drinks but wouldn’t dream of spending a whole night there.

I went to the Grape on a Friday night after work, the place was empty, the drinks overpriced and the staff appeared inconvenienced. I would not recommend this to anyone, unless you wanted a quiet night out and someone else was picking up the bill. Good drink selcection though

The Grape is a great place to meet for drinks after work on a Friday night. Nice and central for people coming from around town, it’s a great place for a few quiet drinks to unwind or a place to meet to start the evening. Food’s available, drinks plentiful and the banter lively. Can be quiet at times, but when it’s busy it’s good.
