Ballydougan Pottery

we had a fantastic wedding reception at ballydougan in september past. every detail was taken care of very professionally, food and service by very warm caring staff was first class. we just had a very relaxed and fun day. many thanks to Bridget and her team. we could not have asked for more. regards Elaine and Ray xx

Recently had a complete make over and it was good before but they have done a fantastic job. It is in a beautiful peacefull setting. The coffee shop is amazing both in it’s décor and food. The gift shop is loaded with lots of things that you wouldn’t find anywhere else. They also sell thier own pottery which is made onsite. The staff are very welcoming so if you want a meal out or just drop in for coffee I would highly recommend that you pay it a visit. You will not be disappointed.

Even I am wrong sometimes… we returned to Ballydougan (unfortunatly) on Patricks day for a nice lunch and the following was my experience
1. Piss Poor menu, only 4 dishes on it (and for a busy Public Hoilday??)
2. Child sized portions.
3. NO LEMON MERENGUE PIE
I am not a plowman, but I would like a portion slightly bigger than what would fit into a tea cup.
I had the fish pie, lovely, tasty nicey nice BUT! Woefully small portions. Disaster.
NO veg on the side
NO salad/​chips on the side to bulk it all out a bit.
Plus it was £8!
Talk about rip off Ireland. For afters I chanced the carrot cake which comprised of a half inch sliver of cake which had been iced by a tight arse on a galloping horse. We will not be back again until i read someone elses reviews to say portion sizes have improved.
It really put me off, fine if you are 87 and used to a liquid diet in the home

Ballydougan Pottery is a gem for anyone wishing to get away from it all for an hour or so by relaxing in a country coffee shop which also serves hot meals. Service is prompt and the staff couldn’t be friendlier giving a home from home feeling. The décor is traditional stone, thatched roof, country cottage. The working pottery shop also allows you to browse unhurried at some fine houseware. Car parking on site is ample. Visit this place once and youll be sure to come back for more!!!
