Description

Specialties

A small, cozy, traditional English pub, specializing in a large array of real ales, craft beers, and an extensive selection of spirits and wines. With 7 hand-pumps, over 25 bottled beers from over the world, as well as rare foreign craft beers on keg, we focus on choice, and a lot of it! We also have a tapas menu, beer garden, movie nights, and regular beer and cider festivals held throughout the year.

History

Established in 1821.

A pub for almost 200 years, records date back to 1821. Settled in the picturesque Georgian architecture of Clifton Village, The Portcullis has had a lively history, and has been owned by some of the most iconic names in brewing of old. Not everything was rosy for the pub, and was under threat of closure for quite a while, but taken over by Dawkins Ales in February 2008, with the grand idea of bringing the pub back to it’s halcyon days of old.
