One of my favourite places to end the night. Great live music. Decent drinks. If you want to go dancing on a Saturday night but don’t want your feet to stick to the floor or be the only over 21 in the room this is the place!

I was in Birmingham over the weekend and ended up at The Jam House, now being a northern lad I like my music and this place didn’t disappoint with the Soul Session Band playing some excellent sultry sounds which kept us dancing until closing. If I only have one negative it is the drinks are a bit more expensive than your normal local but the excellent atmosphere more than makes up for this shortcoming. Next time I’m in Birmingham I’ll definitely be visiting again.

The Jam House is located in St. Paul’s Square and is owned by Jools Holland don’t you know! It’s an awesome live music venue, complete with stage and dance floor as well as a restaurant on a raised level that overlooks all the action. The venue is popular with all ages, and the live music groups/bands are of top quality getting everyone in the party mood. A great place to hang out with friends and to have a boogie, this place stays open until 2am on weekends.

The Jam House is the place to go clubbing in Brum if you have long grown out of Snobs and would rather sell your Granny than be seen dead on Broad Street. The venue is fabulous. It sits right on St Paul’s square, so what’s not to love about that, and inside is more cavernous than expected, with multiple split levels for dining, drinking and dancing all in one. The concept being that you can spend a whole evening in one place, no need to move from bar to restaurant to club. If you are going to eat, don’t starve yourself during the day in anticipation of dinner, while the food is good it is not outstanding and the portions not generous. If dining — fine or otherwise — is the central point of your evening Brum has many many better places to offer. But the menu has some interesting options and it is all well cooked, so don’t rule it out entirely. Do go for the atmosphere, especially on the dance floor. Be ready for a mixed bag music wise. The house band — a ‘jangly’ piano man and drummer — is top notch and really get place moving. I think the DJ bought a box set of 70s classic dance tracks back in the day and has never moved on, he definitely takes his DJ’ing inspiration from the Smashy’n’Nicey school. But it’s all good fun. There is usually live music too, sometimes the band is great, sometimes not so much, but live music is always a bit hit and miss so no complaints on that score.

A friend of mine celebrated his birthday there, it wasn’t bad at all. Nicely decorated club and the music was definitely my type. The disadvantages it it was too crowded and too noisy.

The first time I heard about The Jam House I thought it wouldn’t be my cup of tea and I almost turned an invitation to the place down! I am not very keen on venues than try to recreate all«Latin music» atmosphere, if you know what I mean. I’m glad I accepted the night out invitation from a friend and went to The Jam House because this place is just wonderful for dancing, hang around or eating. As already spotted in the other reviews here it’s a really sophisticated venue, far from being cheesy! You have to try one of their cocktails to get the spirit of this place and let your hair down on the dance floor is highly recommended.

I’ve been here for a Salsa night. It has a very classy atmosphere without being ostentatious — everyone there was simply having a good time. A live band, which included my brother, was playing Cuban rhythms until the early hours. The smoothest live music, a full dance floor, dim lights, lots of drinks and many-a-people having a good time — this is what you’re presented with at The Jam House once the sun sets. It has a dark, relaxed ambience which puts you at ease at you fumble around on the dance-floor, at least you’re barely recognisable. There are intimate seating areas if you’re not the dancing type. It is the more sophisticated of the Birmingham music venues, with a lack of pretension and a taste for style. Unlike other imitators who try to construct an up-market club, it really shows through in the details — whereas with The Jam House the authenticity is in its fabric.

Where in Birmingham can you get great, live music from a super star? NIA? LG Arena? the ICC? Nah, leave those places to the kids, for proper music I visit The Jam House. Why? Well, call me old fashioned or just old but when I have a night out I want a good dinner, good conversation with great friends and I want to be entertained. Is that asking too much? Here, I get what I’m looking for. A small group of us booked a table for dinner, £26.00 per person for two-courses. I had the Asparagus with poached egg to start, tasty then the roast onglet of beef for main. Delicious. My group saw off several bottles of House Red at £15.95. At around 9.30pm the lights were dimmed and the stage lit up, on came Cissy Stone and her band to belt out some great tunes. It wasn’t long before the party was in full swing with a crammed dance floor. A great way to work off tonight’s feast. I’ll be back very soon.

Great place, with great music. Love going here for a wee boogie now and again! Just wish there were a few more tables to sit at.

You can’t really go wrong with the Jam House if you’re looking for a good night out in Birmingham live music is always a winner. While there’s a dress code in place, the door staff and bar staff aren’t snooty about it, they’re reasonable, the admission prices are fair, and the standard of music is usually excellent. While I find there’s not enough tables/chairs to rest my weary legs, that’s because the space is maximised for dancing. A very sociable, lively, friendly venue love it.

I would give this place 5 stars if it weren’t for the one time I went there for a meal. The only thing I can say is dreadful… the food was cold, the service was slow and impolite. Me and three other people asked for the roast chicken with roast potatoes and vegetables. Not only did the chicken come without the potatoes but when we pointed this out to our waiter she said potatoes were not on the menu and we couldn’t get them. After showing her the menu she brought us some semi-cold mash. I will never eat there again. In another note I have been to the Jamhouse many times for nights out and it’s always been brilliant. Great live music, great cocktails and a good mix of people. So remember, amazing for a night out, but avoid the food at all costs

Been going to The Jam House since I went there for my 21st. Although my sister was under the age restriction(she was 18 at the time), the bouncers were nice enough to let us in. They even helped get us cabs at the end of the night. Theyre still lovely to this day. The music is usually jazzed up versions of classic songs, there are usually live bands and dj sets. Well, whatever it is, it always gets the crowd moving! There a wide selection of cocktails available, and we have never experienced any difficulties in ordering drinks.

RRRRRRubbish!!! Went here solely based on the brilliant night we had in Jamhouse Edinburgh… BIG mistake. The food was beyond terrible, the staff were rubbish and the drink they claimed was a cocktail was no more than some lame fruit juice mixed together. Would not recommend this place at all.

The Jam House is a great late night club and live music venue owned by Jools Holland, which regularly plays host to some absolutely superb jazz and blues bands. Having regularly ended up here after evenings out with friends and work colleagues, I’ve seen a few of the regular bands play on multiple occasions, and still they manage to keep it fresh and entertaining every time. The décor within The Jam House is splendid, giving a sense of refined style that brings to mind the American deep South, which is in keeping with the overall musical policy. The bar is well stocked with a huge variety of spirits, and while it’s certainly not the cheapest night out in town, the staff are very friendly and skilled at mixing drinks. The overall atmosphere is vibrant and at any given point during the night the dancefloor will be heaving with revellers. My one criticism of the place is that perhaps the upstairs bar area could have a section allowing people to stand around relaxing and enjoying conversation, as this is rather hard to do at the moment without being swept up into the busy dancefloor. Perhaps this is intentional, but all the same it would be nice to have the option to enjoy watching other people dance, without having them step all over your shoes.

I was here on friday 10th of July 2009 with a group of mates and I have to say its an awesome venue! Friendly bar staff and a brilliant atmosphere! Nice 2for1 on cocktails before 9pm, and I hear the food isnt bad either!(not that I sampled any!) Yep too busy getting the drinks in lol. Its nice mix of live music and a Dj spinning both old and new school, funk, soul, pop and rock classic! The two bands that I got to see were excellent, a nice blend of soul, funk and pop! All very up beat, songs for you to sing along too! Great party venue, a mix crowd of all ages,(20’s, 30’s 40’s onwards.)and lots of ladies! So get in there fellas! Not an expensive night out, cocktails about £4.95, bottle of wine about £14, sorry dont know the price of a beer! Free before 9pm, £5 after, and £8 after 11pm!(I believe) We got in for free. Left after 2am! Overall 9⁄10

A fun alternative night out. Live band and no crappy DJ. Well there is a DJ but not the usual crappy start and stoppy ones you’ll find down broad street. It is quite pricey but its worth it. The live band play some funky music from rock n roll to soul and rnb. The bouncers seem quite ok too which is nice.

Located in the heart of the jewellery quarter of Birmingham the Jam House occupies a traditional and Historic Georgian building with seating spread over three stylish yet informal airy floors. Both food and drink are expensive in here, but good quality and the live music is fantastic but stay away if you do not like it loud!

The Jam House is probably the best night out in Birmingham. The drinks are expensive and the guys are the door are pretty good at keeping out anyone with the wrong attitude, the wrong clothes or if they’re just plain drunk The live bands are fantastic, but really loud.

I had such a good night in here. I thought it was quite expensive, but i guess thats just because i was hanging around student bars most of the time! The atmosphere was brilliant, it was very busy at the bar so you had to wait a long time, but that was fine, because the music was brilliant so you could have a bit of a dance while you waited! I recommend it!
