Specialties
Chitty’s Cake Company is a bespoke cake and cupcake business providing all sorts of personalised treats for customers all over Birmingham. From weddings to birthdays, anniversaries, thank yous and everyday treats, we cater for every need.
Our cake designs are unique and we try to handmake all decorations so they really are special and made just for you. We have a wide variety of flavours available and even make these to your own special request (peanut butter and chocolate was our most recent creation!)
We also run lots of cake and cupcake decorating classes for all levels of skill at our Custard Factory studio. If you want a couple of hours learning something fun, edible and new we have short classes that start from £30 for 2 hours. For those who want to know more, we run a 12 hour course over 4 weeks that really helps you get to grips with the technical and creative sides of cake making and decorating.
History
Established in 2011.
Chitty’s Cake Company was started by Rebecca Chitty, who started her working life as a solicitor in Birmingham city centre. A passion for baking and a creative flair for decorating cakes mixed with (excuse the pun!) a desire to give Birmingham the bespoke cake company it lacked, led to the birth of the business.
Since opening as a small ‘cottage industry’ operated from home, Chitty’s moved into the vibrant and exciting Custard Factory complex in 2012, where all our cakes and cupcakes are made in our urban workshop. This is where we run all our classes too, so students can often smell wedding cakes baking while they learn to craft beautiful sugar roses.
It’s onwards and upwards for Chitty’s in 2013 as more classes have been added to those we have been offering for two succesful years. Plus, our cake creations get more ambitious by the day — our motto is «Our best cake is our next one!».
Meet the Business Owner
Rebecca C.
Business Owner
Born in Liverpool, Rebecca was taught to bake by her mum using traditional methods and a home-made touch and these ‘old school’ techniques have helped to shape Chitty’s Cake Company over the last couple of years.
Rebecca moved to Birmingham in 2003 to go to Birmingham University after growing up in Cheshire. Following a degree in English and a two year Law conversion course, she started a two year training scheme at one of the best commerical law firms in the city, which she completed in 2011. As a qualified solicitor, she moved away from the legal sphere to enter a much more creative one. Starting Chitty’s Cake Company in 2011, and taking it from strength to strength, Rebecca has been a full time cake maker, decorator and teacher for several years now and loves every minute of her job.
