my children both have a special bear each birthday from the bear factory. they choose a bear, have it stuffed, add a message to a heart and have it sewn up. They then make a birth certificate, and choose some clothes for the bear. It is expensive and thats the reason its a treat for once a year. The bears are lovely, and the staff are most helpfull, with a variety of stock available.

Building a bear is lovely idea for a gift for a child, it’s just that little bit more personal which is appealing. The process of building a bear does not take that long probably about 5 – 10 minutes depending on how busy the store. The staff are always helpful and happy to assist. The bears are a bit more expensive but it is worth spending the extra for that more personal gift.

Build a Bear Workshop in the Bullring is the same as others around the country. We didn’t spend time here as seeing bears stuffed traumatises me. It isn’t cheap(though I want one) and the clothing is very expensive. One chooses ones design of bear and then go and record its voice .or choose pre-recorded stuff. It is then filled and given a heart. Then it is stitched up and fluffed up. After this it is given a name and a birth certificate is provided. Now your bear is alive! Choose clothes for it(optional).payargh…and take your new friend home in a Cub Condo carrying case. As well as clothes and hats of all kinds there are shoes, boots and fluffy slippers plus accessories like chairs, tents, mobile phones etc. for the trendiest of bears. Nice for a special gift and me!!! When we were there the real, lifesize Pudsey Bear was too and he was giving people hugs. I was nudged and told to go get one but was too embarrassed. They were donating £5 from the sale of Pudsey Bear and £1 from the sale of Pudsey T– shirt to The BBC Children In Need Appeal which supports disadvantaged children and young people in the UK. Cool for a bear shop. cool for kids too.
