Priory Square Shopping Centre

The Priory square shopping centre is located by a main road near various bus stops and other shops. There are many shops including the oasis market, which contains alternative clothing and jewellery shops as well as piercing and tattoo shops.

Another fine slice of shopping utopia; Priory Square is redeemed only by the fact that it houses that little gem of a café, Coffee Time, and provides easy access to our favourite, alternative market store.
Lining the Square is a rather odd assortment of shops, selling things as diverse as health food, £6 dresses and Jamaican flag coloured string vests.
There is a picnic area in the centre of the square that I think is part of Coffee Time. This has always been fenced off and closed thought when I’ve been there and is hardly inviting. Like the Pallasades, it really wouldn’t take that much to sort this place out. All they need is to rent space out to some decent and interesting shops to pull in new customers.

Priory Square used to be rammed with market shops in the middle, making it a nightmare to navigate through just to get to Oasis.
Now, there’s been a change (no idea why — perhaps the market stalls have been moved somewhere else.?) and the square itself is being used to hold outdoor events throughout the year. It’s useful to have another public space in Birmingham, and interesting to see how the demographics in attendance change depending on where the event takes place. I worked at a xmas event there last year that targeted children and families in fun craft activities with a bit of a careers roadshow alongside and we had LOADS of families from across Birmingham pass through, so it seemed to do the trick.
Aside from events, the only reason I now go through the square is to get to Oasis. Old habits die hard!

I love the way some businesses in Birmingham organise themselves in benefit of their improvement without being aggressive! I think The Square Shopping does it quite well.
Located at Priory Walk, between Corporation Street and Dale End, this charming Square Shopping is surrounded by chain shops and independent retailers, including The Oasis Store itself.
I quite like their mishmash of shops. There is always a bargain to be spotted at the independent clothes stores and you can have your time and explore the whole shopping calmly, after having a coffee at the wicked Coffee Time!
The Square Shopping also has being choosing as one of the several locations to held The Bert & Gert’s Urban Vintage Market and they held other interesting events to boost their businesses.
That’s the mint of vintage fairs! No comments! Antiques, vintage clothes and accessories, records, jewellery, cakes, toys and everything else you can imagine! A lovely initiative to boost the local business. Name it what you want but don’t miss the chance to catch up with the Bert and Gert’s Vintage Market at The Square Shopping. Some items are a truly found!
The Square Shopping are usually open from 9 am to 6.30 pm, Mondays to Sundays.
