True story– When I was 17 a few friends and I once went on a drinking spree in Digbeth and ended up in here.
We are good lads these days, 12 years have made us stronger and more emotionally pragmatic and mature. Back in the day we thought we were immortal and took the lot and lived a life of hedonism. Only problem was that we were all curious virgins.
One night after being kicked out of the Medicine Bar we hatched a plan, to go to this place and pretend to be customers and then say we had to leave and go to a cash point.
Basically we wanted to see what a brothel looked like from the inside, we were all to scared and drunk to use the services.
We were buzzed in and greeted by a lady in her underwear, we went through some metal gates positioned in a stairwell and were sat in a room whilst woman were led out like cattle so men could choose. At 17 my morality check was on fire. Something wasn’t right about this place.
I furtively asked how much a shoulder rub would be and was surprised when she said 40 quid, but knew she meant more than a shoulder rub. The whole place was seedy, we’d seen what we wanted to see and we made our excuses and left.
When we were waiting at the bus stop we noticed that one of our mates was missing. To this day we don’t know what happened to him; we all have our suspicions!
A few years later the EU opened, people came looking for a better life. Yet forced migration became headline news and women from developing countries looking for a better life, came here and were and are exploited and abused in places like this.
The women that work here can’t be happy. To do what they do must be degrading, humiliating and oppressive.
I hope this place and others like them burn down. If you are a customer, then shame on you.
