Vue Cinemas

Vue is a 10 screen multiplex right in the centre of town. If you’re out for the night you can have a meal in Festival Square then catch a movie here later.
All the screens have stadium style tiered seating, the seats are comfortable, screens are huge and sound is great.
Drinks and snacks are very expensive, and ticket prices are creeping up, to the extent that a night out for two at the cinema costs more than the Blu-​Ray release of the film when it comes out! But then that’s pretty much any cinema I guess.
You can book tickets online and choose which seats you want but expect to pay a premium for the privilege. Come on, Vue, how can you justify that — someone making a commitment to come to your cinema and not the Odeon, and paying up-​front? Surely that should be a discount, not a surcharge!
They also do over 18 showings of PG, 12 and 15 films, which means you don’t get disturbed by groups of kids chatting all through the film, which is nice.
Overall a rather impressive cinema, much better than the alternative Odeon, which is tired and dated and tries to charge you extra to sit in the back two rows. Damned cheek!

Exactly what you’d expect from a modern cinema. Lots of screens (about 10, I think), clean and airy. The seats are really comfy and are steeply raked, so it doesn’t matter if someone tall sits in the seat in front. :-)
Only downside — the cost of refreshments. I’d recommend you have a drink before/​after. Other than that, gets a thumbs-​up from me.

Vue Cinema in Basingstoke’s Festival Place in located just outside at the end of a row of restaurants. In general it is kept neat and tidy; the floors seem to be significantly less sticky than many other cinemas. The screens themselves are large and the seats are comfortable and big enough to move around in. The staff are congenial and always seem to be working. The concession stand is also kept clean, although as with most movie concession stands the prices are extortionate.
There are a fair number of screens, so you can generally find any of the big Hollywood movies. They also occasionally have some less well-​known ones showing. This place can get really busy so if you want to see a specific movie book in advance and prepare yourself for a crowd of teenagers.

A very well located cinema in the heart of Basingstoke. Offers parking next door. The cinema offers comfy seating and is very pleasant to sit and watch films. All the latest releases are available and there are multiple screens so even if you haven’t managed to get to a new release viewing it will still be available weeks later. I haven’t had to queue so far and the opportunity to book seats online is a huge plus!

Our regular cinema (because all of the ones within 5 miles closed several years ago), Vue Basingstoke is conveniently located just off the M3 and near to plentiful parking and places to eat.
The cinema itself is modern and comfortable although it would be nice to see a bit more clearing up after the show. Not really the cinemas fault when the people visiting it could be a bit more respectful and not drop food everywhere !!
Aside from the good facilities (comfy seats, bugs screen, more than ample snack /​drink provsion), we like the ability to book and choose your seat in advance together with the ability to collect your ticket anywhere i.e. not just at the kiosk.
We would ask Vue, however, to not charge 50p per ticket as a booking fee. We think this is excessive given that it’ll cost you less.

This is a large, modern, conveniently located cinema in Basingstoke town centre. It has large screens and comfy seats. As you would expect, it shows all the mainstream new releases.
The cinema is surrounded by restaurants if you want to make a night of it.
The snacks are of course overpriced, but that is the case in all cinemas unfortunately.

A nice modern cinema with great seating and very large screens. It has a great hotdog/​nacho/​popcorn/​drink area and although prices are greatly inflated due to it being a city centre cinema expect to pay £5 for a drink and popcorn. Ideally buy sweets drink etc before and take them in. Theyalso do student discount and orange wednesdays.

this is a large complex showing a huge variety of films, there really is something for everyone here, the staff are very helpful and you can even see on a computer screen where you can sit in relation to the screen. i think the seats are great and massive and very comfy so this makes for a good viewing, only one complaint and that is that sometimes the air con can get a tad chilly so take something to wrap around yourself. they do do food here but only snacks and i find them a bit expensive especially if you have several kids with you, but overal a great experience
