I think that you can tell how good a business is if there are people queuing out of the door and that’s what happens here more often than not. They do deserve their reputation there as the food is lovely. They serve a great selection of sandwiches which can be made to order. They sell hot food as well like sausage cobs and pasties. There are a great selection of sweets and cakes, stay well away if you are on a diet. You can also pick up soft drinks and crisps to complete your meal. Lovely service with a smile always.

Smithards has been going since I was a wee lad and it is good as ever! It it basically a traditional, small town bakers. As a bakers they of course do freshly baked bread which is of excellent quality, if you are willing to pay for it.
They have a delicious selection of cakes and buns that should fit anyone’s sweet tooth, I particulary recommend there doughnuts, some of the best you will ever taste! They also do a nice selection of warm and cold sandwiches and cobs. For my money, they offer better value and taste than a highstreet sandwich chain such as Subway. Price wise, they are very competitive with the big chains, on some items you may pay slightly more, but the quality is always worth it.
They are a really friendly bunch in here and you will get proper service with a smile, not someone imperonally taking your order. It can get busy here at lunchtimes, as you would expect, but service is efficient and I have never waited more than 10 minutes to be served and have my order completed.
