After devouring pizza from Honest Crust at Altrincham Market, my friend and I were in serious need of a dessert fix and happened upon Candy Bar which was at the end of Greenwood Street, opposite the Market House. Light and brightly colourful inside, the multiple glossy pink ‘Expedit’ bookcases from IKEA were filled with jars of sweets, chocolates, party bags and sugary drinks — it’s a veritable haven if you have a serious sweet-tooth or you’d like to give your nieces/nephews some rocket fuel before you hand them back to their parents ;) We were only after some ice cream from Dunham Massey Farm(the lady behind the counter told us they get it delivered directly from them). There were about half a dozen flavours on offer, from traditional vanilla and chocolate to rum & raisin and honeycomb. For £2.60 you could get two scoops of any flavour wedged into a sizeable cone. Perfect for a sunny afternoon. With Sam Joseph, who make handmade chocolates, soon to take up permanent residence in the Market House, there’ll be a ‘Choc Corner’ in this part of Alty, with me hanging round there regularly!

I love this place, normally after having an excellent pizza from honest crust I’m in the mood for something sweet. A fantastic selection of modern, international and«olde» sweets(by the 100g not the quarter, but hey — that’s progress!) I love the Vimto selection that includes things I’ve never seen anywhere else before. Not the cheapest place in the world, but superb quality & service.
