Specialties

Elixir is the largest and finest day charter yacht in the Virgin Islands. A luxury roll stabilized Hatteras Motor yacht over 60 feet long with three levels allows a group of 2 to 12 guests to be individually pampered by our professional crew. Both are USCG Master captains and rescue certified scuba divers with decades of sea and service experience. David is also a former International airline captain and Janet is a flight attendant. We serve a full breakfast to order (eggs Benedict is our specialty) and our famous grilled to order fillet mignon and lobster tail lunch at our shaded bronze sea turtle table. Our full top shelf bar including wines, beer, champagne and mixed drinks is open all day. All snorkel and flotation is included as well. We depart Sapphire Beach Marina on the East of St Thomas and whisk you to beautiful St John, We make at least three snorkel /beachfront stops during the day and we can take you right to the beach or snorkel site with our 8 passenger yacht tender. On private charters if you wish to visit the western BVI (Jost Van Dyke, Norman Island, or Tortola we can do that as well. Passports are required and additional BVI customs fees apply. Our day trip is 830 AM to 430 PM. In addition we offer a Sunset/dinner cruise from 530 PM to 830 PM. Our non private cruise is $ 395 pp. Our private day charter for two is $ 1800. The private for three to six is $ 2300. Six to 12 guests is $ 395 pp (must be one group). Dinner cruise is $ 250 pp. 15% grat is added

History

Established in 2005.

We brought Elixir down from St Petersburg Florida in the spring of 2005 taking our time in the Bahamas and Turks and Caicos. We explored the Virgin Islands extensively that summer. After working out menus and itineraries we began charters in the October of 2005 with most of our guests referred from the Ritz Carlton and Marriott Frenchman’s Reef. With some small advertising and our web site we built up a base of loyal return guests who we have had the pleasure of seeing for ten years now. Getting on Trip Advisor a couple of years ago has helped get our yacht more attention. We have never had a review with less than 5 stars. We no longer rely on hotel concierge for bookings although they still call with new guests which is always appreciated! The costs of operating a yacht like Elixir has kept our competition operating smaller more basic boats. Our crew being owner operators as opposed to hired captains has preserved our place at the top of the luxury day charter fleet.

Meet the Business Owner

David M.

Business Owner

I have a degree in business administration from the University of South Florida. I entered the U S Navy on graduation and became a naval officer and entered flight training. I got my wings and joined a fighter squadron flying off an aircraft carrier in the Mediterranean. I flew Navy fighters as pilot and instructor pilot and bought my first boat, a 46 foot sailboat which lived on and did extensive work on and learned a lot about boating and the care and feeding of large boats. I became an airline pilot for US Airways and flew increasingly larger jets over 28 years flying US Airways B757 and B767 Transatlantic and Caribbean flights as Captain. During all that time I owned boats of every description from the Chesapeake Bay to the Keys and Bahamas. Along the way I got my US Coast Guard 100 Ton Master License and when I retired from USAirways/American we moved Elixir from Florida to St Thomas and started Elixir Charters.
