Hotel Coronado

Sitting in our room in Münich, we needed to decide on where to stay in Zürich for the night. After a quick visit to tripadvisor and then filtering on free parking and wifi this was the highest rated. The price was also right. We booked on their website which comes with a free gift of either 1 bottle of water, 1 glass of wine, 1 bottle of beer, 24 hour tram ticket or… there was another choice. We went for the tram ticket as we’d need two anyways. Also mind you that there’s complimentary tea and coffee as well as one bottle of water.
We arrived in Zürich fairly late but good news is that the front desk is 24 hours. The man at the front desk was quite an intriguing man. Very jolly. The parking was convenient. There were spaces right in front of the hotel as well as the back. They provided a username and password for the free wifi. The wifi was pretty responsive at the 4^th floor where we were.
The room was cozy. We had a full bed. The only thing was that it was cold and they provided a space heater which was nice. The trams run and you can hear it fairly lightly so if you’re a light sleeper then probably might be a tad difficult to sleep but nothing that a good pair of earplugs could fix but it’s definitely a light rumble.
Pillows seem to be an issue for me in Europe. They love long flat pillows. Compared to the pillows in Luzerm and Münich, this was the best of the three. I’m not saying it was great. Just better.
The hotel is located right off the street with the tram which means easy access to getting into the city. It took approximately 10 min to get in. Really convenient. The breakfast is an extra 15 CHF which we didn’t partake in.
All in all it was a great place to stay especially since we had a car and the price wasn’t super exhorbitant like in the actual city.

Hotel Coronado — das Stadthotel zum Verlieben. Hallo? So ein hässlicher Klotz von aussen und dann noch die Lage: direkt am Milchbuck an der vielbefahrensten Schaffhauserstrasse. Wer übernachtet freiwillig hier?
Ich war einmal für ein Seminar eines Geschäftspartners hier, wo es jedoch nur Gipfeli und Orangensaft gab, so dass ich leider nichts über die Küche aussagen kann. Für Hotelgäste gibt es von Montag bis Freitag ein grosszügiges Frühstücksbuffet, welches jedoch nicht im Zimmerpreis inbegriffen ist.
Jedes Zimmer verfügt über gratis High-​Speed Internet (mit Kabel). Eins dieser Einzelzimmer kostet 139 Franken.
Wer in der Nähe des Flughafens sein sollte oder für Dozenten der Uni ist dieses Hotel sicher geeignet. Für Feriengäste würde ich es aber nicht empfehlen. Einziger Vorteil: Man hat den Irchelpark direkt vor der Nase und kann Sport treiben oder einfach ein Buch lesen im Park.

Das Stadthotel hat seinen Namen von einem berühmten Swissair-​Fliegermodell aus den Sechzigern, deshalb stehen in der Lobby auch Flugzeugsitze. Ansonsten ist das Coronado eher nüchtern-​modern eingerichtet und durch eine Tramstation vor dem Haus sehr verkehrsgünstig gelegen: Zum HBf und zur Flughafen sind es per ÖPNV jeweils ca. 20 min. Kostenloses Internet auf dem Zimmer, Netzwerkkabel und Stromadapter gibt es an der Rezeption. Überhaupt ist das Personal ausgesprochen freundlich und kenntnisreich, wenn es um Verkehrsverbindungen etc. geht. Sehr gute Adresse in Zürich, wenn es nicht das Luxus-​Segment sein soll/​darf.

Cet hôtel est propre, simple et joli, il est bien situé et surtout, l’accueil est sympathique. Il faut savoir qu’en suisse, l’hôtellerie est de bonne qualité même si plus chère qu’en France (compter 100 euros la nuit). C’est une adresse à retenir.
