Fajardo Inn Resort

Fajardo Ferry is an easy 10 minute walk from here and I highly recommend leaving your car at the inn for a couple reasons. One, it’s much safer parked here than at the ferry terminal and two, parking at the terminal isn’t free. If you line up and don’t get tickets for the ferry, it’s pretty much a waste.
I give one star for the friendly staff and the pool. The room does not have central AC and the wall mounted air conditioners are disturbingly loud. Sure it does the job, but it’s so difficult to sleep! Our room was on the first floor and there were several ants inside near the front door. Moreover, the blankets were complete shite. They were so rough that there was no point in keeping them on the bed. There was one sheet underneath the blanket, but you can feel all of the pills/​bobbles of the blanket. The blankets also had holes in them.
There is no refrigerator or microwave. The room comes equipped with a coffee pot, but no grounds. Also, if you want ice, it’s not free! I’ve never had to pay for ice at a hotel before, so I thought this was odd. I remember trekking through the rain to the ice machine and having to go back to the room for quarters.
If there was one positive thing about the room, I’d say it was the bathroom. The shower was spacious and there were shelves for you to store items.
I couldn’t figure out how to work the Jacuzzi, but the main pool was really nice. It was large, there was a lazy lagoon, and basketball hoops. If you’re interested, it’s $ 5/​person for the gym and less than $ 2 /​person for mini golf.
Fajardo Inn has beautiful pools and friendly staff, but it stops there. For $ 200/​night, Fajardo Inn was far from impressive.

This place had holes in the comforters. For 250 a night they should be able to have nice blankets. Felt like we were staying in a old hospital

the front desk sent me to my room, only for me to walk in to a lady lying in the bed. yikes! the water never got hot, there was no coffee even though there was a coffee pot. there is no wifi in the rooms, only in the lobby and outside the hotel. fortunately it was only a one night stay.
the pool area is nice and the staff was friendly.

There are bedbugs at this property. I stayed in a room in the first floor. I woke up to multiple bites on my back, feet and ankles.
My boyfriend checked the mattress upon entering the room due to the lack of cleanliness in the room (musty smell, dead insects on tile floor, general bad feeling after sitting in the room for half and hour) and didn’t find evidence of bedbug droppings.
They’re present. Not sure how they’ve contained it to this room or they’re aware of which rooms they are in. They should deal with the problem with the room rates they charge — we got ours as a «deal» of around $ 100, and the rate listed on their site is much more than that. Bedbug bites are no fun on your vacation :/​
For what it’s worth, the front desk staff is nice. That’s not enough to be okay with bedbug bites.

Stayed two nights in July. Enjoyed the Triple Family Rooms with 3 queen size beds and a great pool. Kids would have been happy staying here the all vacation

Lo único q tiene nice el hotel son las facilidades y el restaurant. El hotel apesta a humedad y aguas negras. Las habitaciones son tricky! Si tienes balcón vas a poder dormir. Si tienes habitación sin balcón no dormirás por el ruidoso a/​c o el inodoro q coje agua cada 2 minutos! Hay cafetera en el cuarto, pero no café. Las camas son como palo y solo hay 2 almohadas pequeñas. Ahora lo q me enfureció y no pude creer es que las tollas estaban sucias y la colcha vieja apestaba a sudar! Parece q no la lavaron hace 2 meses! Que pena!

Great experience. I checked in late without a problem. Room was pretty basic, but a great deal in comparison to other options around.

We got this room for $ 96 ($ 111) after taxes, and for that price we were very happy. The view was lovely (no porch, which was why it was $ 96, but at a $ 24 difference, who cares?!). We liked the small pool our rm was beside, but loved the big pool, which we had mostly to ourselves. It had a slide and was next to mini golf… I actually really wished my son had been there, he would have had a blast., The only downside being that the bar was closed so we had to walk up to the restaurant to get drinks, and it was a bit of a trek. Our room was clean, shower big, no washcloths though, which I like to use. 2 average restaurants on site, an awesome gym facility, parrots, iguanas etc. We really liked this place for the price we paid, although I might not have given it 4 if we’d paid $ 150 for the night instead.

Pro:
Location is close to las cabezas the fajardo bio bay by driving and walkable distance to ferry port.
Con:
Bed bug and Crocker. Bf spotted 3 crockers and friends got really bad bed bugs bites.
Need to go to front desk for beach towel and hairdresser.
We got two rooms on first floor and the rooms are extremely humid.
No room WiFi.

Stayed here February 2015. We chose the hotel primarily b/​c of its location, close to the Ferry to El Culebra & El Yunque National Forest. Its the little hotel that could…
POSITIVE: Good Sized Room, bathrooms, tiles, etc. were clean, Seems like there have been updates on the facility. Good Sized Gym (although some equipment didn’t seem to work). Nice Pools. Garden’s and landscaping are pretty. I had no problems with dealing with the staff, although I had no problems or issues to contend with. Before arriving I called to confirm that we had 2 rooms next to each other and a fridge in the room. I did have to call multiple times to make my reservation and after all that, it turned out they couldn’t give me the same deal as online, so I had to go online to book and cancel the reservation the staff had made. Plenty of & Free parking. They did have a combo safe.
CONS: $ 25 replacement costs for the cheap pool towels (God forbid you leave on at the pool — I would recommend just using the bath towels at the pool — b/​c there is no charge for loosing them). Other than restaurants, nothing going on in the evening. Hot water sporadic in the showers. Our hotel room door didn’t shut and lock on the 1^st try. We had to slam the door multiple times to get it to «click» shut & lock. You have to lug your luggage up steps to your room. May not be handicap accessible. There was no additional security lock from inside the rooms (most hotels have that extra bar or security measure, to prevent someone from the outside coming in the room once you were in the room. I noticed they didn’t have it.
The rooms were large and clean & the beds were good sized. We had requested a microwave and fridge and both items were in the rooms when we arrived. We arrived before the check in time (4pm), but we parked the car & changed into our bathing suits in the bathroom/​showering/​locker room. The bathrooms were nice & we hung at the lower pool, which was clean and not crowded. They had some shade umbrella type things, so we got a break from the sun.
Our room was ready early and they called me to let me know. We were pleasantly surprised by the size of our rooms. Everything appeared clean and in good working order. We had to lug all our luggage (6 of us) up to the 2^nd floor to our room, which was challenging.
The hotel is set on a hill, so if you have limited mobility you may find it challenging.
There was free Wifi, but there are different pass-​codes for the different areas, so you have to ask at the front desk. There is a business center, but no printer. Also, the computer defaults to spanish on some websites, so that was a challenge — BTW. CLEAR YOUR HISTORY!
We ate at both the Outdoor restaurant & the breakfast place. BOTH PLACES TOOK FOREVER.. .. like forever forever! One night we ate at the outdoor patio & once at the indoor breakfast (starfish maybe) The food was good, but I would not recommend unless you have nothing but time on your hands & you are not really hungry. There was a little bakery on the way in, which is we ending up having breakfast at. They were very friendly & helpful and it was affordable.
We ended up having to do some laundry and must have spent over $ 10 & 3 hours trying to dry our clothes. So if you need to do laundry I would suggest just doing essentials.
The surrounding area seemed a bit rough, from the houses in cages to the man at the intersection begging for change, but we had a car, so we had no issues.

Bed Bugs Bite at the Fajardo Inn
And management doesn’t really care. Stayed there for a few days during our honeymoon to check out Bio Bay and the rain forest and instead left early because of the bed bugs. My wife’s was bitten severely and we immediately checked out, and they refused to refund us! Not only that they wanted us to SHOW them where the bed bugs were — we showed them the bites.
Ana Tores, the manager needs to be fired — she was awful and has zero people skills. She treated us like we were trying to pull something over on them. I normally NEVER write reviews unless the place is spectacular and this is the FIRST negative review I’ve ever written but I don’t want anyone else to ever have to go through what we went through.
The bites burned for days and although we tried to enjoy the rest of our stay in Puerto Rico (at different hotel) it was a challenge with burning, itching bed bug bites all over my wife’s inner thigh. STAY AWAY — I wish I could post the pictures of her bites on Unilocal but not available — so I have posted them on Trip Advisor if you want to see. We counted 17 bites on one leg, 9 on the other!
FINALLY — when we confronted them about the bed bugs the front desk staff admitted they had a problem with bed bugs, but the manager completely denied it. When I checked other people’s reviews I can see three other reviews on TripAdvisor referencing bed bugs. — So we were NOT crazy and you are rolling the dice staying at the Fajardo Bed Bug Inn.
Minor Problems with the Inn: WIFI — yes they had it, in the lobby but not accessible in the rooms — No refrigerator in the room and they charged for ICE! They gave us two very small and poor towels for the pool and required we leave a $ 25 deposit for each one! This place nickel and dimes you to death and DOES NOT CARE ABOUT SERVICE.

Stayed here in early October and had a great experience. I had heard many things about El Conquistador nearby, but I went with this place since it was a significantly cheaper option and I was not disappointed! Fajardo itself is kind of dead in October, which was a little disappointing for me. If I could do it again, I might go the more touristy route of staying in San Juan around that time of year, but one of the main reasons to stay in Fajardo is easy access to Vieques and Culebra, so things still turned out pretty well.
As far as the hotel goes, the room wasn’t fancy –as you might expect from the price– but the property as a whole has a lot of things going for it:
— A pleasant atmosphere. Pastels and palm trees… definitely felt relaxed the whole time I was here.
— There are two pools, and one of them is really big with a bar and a water slide. The bar wasn’t open when we went, but if it had been, I would have spent a lot of time at this pool.
— The Blue Iguana. My girlfriend and I went to this restaurant one of the nights we were staying there because we wanted to relax around the hotel a bit, and we had a great time. The staff was very friendly and upbeat. The food was delicious, and we rounded out the night with a nice game of pool and some drinks.
— It’s in a pretty good location, as long as you have a car.
Overall, I’d recommend this place as an awesome, cheap choice for a stay in Fajardo. If you care about the room itself a lot, you might want to spend the extra money and go to El Conquistador, but otherwise this place is definitely worth a shot.

My family and I stayed there for a week in late July and it was a great experience. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. Rooms were very clean. Both pools were clean and easily accessible. The golf course was night and laundry on the facility was a plus. Both restaurants in the hotel had good food with very friendly staff. We would definitely stay there again!

We came to eat at the Blue Iguana restaurant at this hotel after driving along the east coast all day. We saw this restaurant in the lonely planet book we have with us. It was decent food but nothing special. We found it weird that it was in the lonely planet book but we were starving, it was close and cheap. It was not easy to find among all the buildings at the inn.

Nice rooms, comfortable bed, pretty pool. Ate at Star Fish restaurant and my plate as delicious (fried shrimp and tostones) but my husband and father-​in-​law were not happy with theirs (yuca mofongo, steak with onions and carne fritz and rice w/​beans) Bay Breeze on the drink menu was awesome! Service was great too.
Drinks at the Mexican restaurant were perfect!
We stayed here after a day in Culebra. It’s nice and close to the ferry terminal. The only thing that kind of blew was that you have to pay for ice… that’s just weird. Oh and the wifi sucked.

My gardener and I planned to stay here for one night, on our way to Vieques. We arrived late on a friday night by cab from San Juan. The staff at the front desk was very friendly, as was their parrot Lola.
The room, and the hotel itself, have what I assume is intended to be a carribean ambiance. It’s all rattan and tiled floors, the rooms are breezy, the beds are comfortable. When we opened our window, we could hear the jungle singing all night long.
We explored the hotel complex the night we arrived and stumbled on the giant pool and mini golf course that no one mentioned anything about, and a huge apiary filled with tropical birds (including one that sounded like it was a five year old girl saying «wow!»)
The really beatiful surroundings and the relative quiet of the grounds was so nice that we ended up staying for a second night because the place was so relaxing… the price was steep but ultimately worth it.
However, and a big however, there is no food within walking distance of this place. We didn’t have a rental car, so it sort of sucked since the only breakfast option at the hotel was pretty bad (like eggs with french fries bad)
Tl;dr great hotel with clean comfortable rooms that have beautiful views of lush jungle and of open ocean. However the breakfast is expensive and uninspired — if you’re going to have a little tiny abuelita making food, have her cook something that’s tasty and interesting!

Nice rooms, comfy beds, great pig play area for kids and big pool/​health spa gym. Restaurant is fairly good/​ok, most of the review is on it.:
I had the stuffed snapper ($ 38usd) VERY unique presentation, see pics, butterfly fillets to remove bones but left tail section attached, fried whole and stuffed with crab and (plantains?). The crab stuffing was good, nothing to write home about though, snapper was a bit overcooked and tough. the surf and turf couples special ($ 65; feeds two) was very good. prices were a bit steep for the décor (see pics, they need a decorator to come in and tone down the colors or do something to tie the theme together), waiter was professional and courteous.
It seemed like they could have changed a couple things and made it outstanding but they just missed the mark continuously. The waiter brought out a bread/​appetizer plate that wasn’t fully cleaned (baked on cheese remnants) which was promptly replaced. We were the only ones in the restaurant.
I would definitely stay here again but would try other restaurants. Great clean hotel though. close to the bioluminescent bay kayaking (a must, awesome experience) and near surf (la pared)/snorkel areas (isla culebra and some other island, if its been rainy there will be no vis for snorkeling so do something else (most captains wont take you out if the vis is bad as its a waste of time).

The resort has a ton of amenities and we were not present to enjoy most of them. We did go to the bar on site and enjoyed our meal and drinks. The bartender was really informative about the questions we had.
The room was pretty basic, not very comfortable but it works.

It’s a mini resort with kind of a lot of amenities at pretty reasonable prices. I think this is a good place to stay for a day or two as you do all the fajardo/​culebra water activities. There’s also a bar inside which is pretty convenient since you’ll already be parked there.

Before my gf and I went to Vieques, we stopped off in Fajardo. We approached Fajardo Inn to see what kind of rates they could offer. We were able to get $ 90/​night, including breakfast, it was amazing value for our money! I was really impressed with this place from the service (outstanding), to location (close to the ferry), price, quality of room, and overall experience. I would highly recommend this place.
