Had a very good experience here earlier this month. We started with the meat and cheese plate, which was delicious. Would definitely get it again. Next, I had the gnocchi sorrentina and my boyfriend ordered the chicken parm. Both were delicious. The chicken parm was crispy which I liked — would probably order it myself next time. My only real complaint is that bottles of wine were very pricey — we ordered the only bottle under $ 75 and it wasn’t great. The staff were nice and attentive. While the meal was very expensive(I don’t typically expect to pay over $ 25 for pasta dishes), it was worth it. We had a very pleasant experience and I will definitely back next time I’m in Puerto Rico.

Decent Chicken Marsala, limited menu, ambience is dark and dated, service OK, forgot to bring dessert for about 30 minutes and then just brought with no apology. Pricy and not worth it. $ 36 plate of chicken should be out of this world and it misses that mark by a lot.

I don’t know how this place got good reviews. Making a reservation was a big problem. There was nothing available earlier than 10pm. When we walked by an hour prior to our reservation there were only 2 tables inside. We got seated at 10 pm. A glass of wine was approximately 2.5 oz. I have been to many five star restaurants in nyc and never in my life seen a pour like this. We were never offered sparkling water. When I finished my drink I was never offered another glass nor was my empty glass picked up. Beef carpaccio for $ 22 had mesculin lettuce instead of arugula. Same for $ 49 veal milagnese. There is a big difference between arugula and mesculin lettuce. Awful experience!

Very helpful staff. All the dishes ordered were tasty and well made. Ordered the daily special risotto that was delicious. Restaurant is located inside the Waldorf Astoria property.

Best Italian place in the island, pricey but treat yourselves… you’re on vacation. I love the Chicken Parm, but honesty you can’t go wrong with whatever you order. The service and the food are outstanding; you’ll find the choice to come here well worth the $$$$

Everything was great from start to finish. We sat outside, it was very serene and romantic with the waves of the ocean in the background. Hostess and our waitress were amazing and super nice. We started off with the calamari which had a little spicy zip to it, and the seared tuna. Was just right. My husband had the salmon and it was a very nice big portion. He slammed it. I ordered the grilled lemon chicken, another huge portion and the chicken was so succulent and cut like butter. Best chicken I had while in Puerto Rico.

My girlfriends I went to dinner at La Piccola Fontana in the ESJ for our last night out in San Juan. We were over all the Puerto Rican food and wanted something a bit different. The dinner was pricey. $ 200 for two salads, three entrees, and 4 glasses of wine. The service was great and generally the food was pretty good. It’s not the best italian i’ve ever had(but you have to go to Chicago or New York for that) but the salads were tasty and the entrees were all filling and pretty decent.

My favorite restaurant in San Juan! I live in Boston where Italian food is amazing and I was pleasantly surprised at the cuisine at La Piccola Fontana. The caprese salad, raviolis and tiramisu were all delicious! I loved this restaurant so much I dined there twice on my trip. The manager Luis went out of his way to make sure we had a lovely evening. The staff was very friendly. Ask for a corner seat or a table by the window! Then go to the lobby for music and dancing after your meal. Can’t wait for my next trip!

Service was very good. The food not so much. We had the following and all were decent at best but not worth anything close to the outrageous prices. Calamari– basic chain restaurant quality with bland taste Chicken Saltimboca– rubbery with no taste 2 small pieces for $ 30 Linguine with meat sauce-no taste The highlight of the meal was the guava butter and bread. This was the only thing worth complimenting on. Way over priced and I would say this restaurant wouldn’t last a month anywhere else.

I held a dinner for 60 colleagues, all from the New York area, here earlier this month and would happily do everything over again. The service was impeccable, the food was fantastic, and the setting was very comfortable. Luis, the general manager, was attentive and accommodating from the very beginning which made planning a large dinner a breeze. Even our Italian born CEO loved the food, which is the highest compliment an Italian restaurant can get! I went back a two nights later to have dinner with a few friends and again we were blown away by the food and service. Everything we ate was cooked perfectly. It was easily the best meal we had in Puerto Rico. Whether you are having dinner with a small group or on a large scale, I absolutely recommend dining at La Piccola Fontana. I’ll be back!

What can I say about La Piccola Fontana, the ambiance, food, service– simply exceptional! Just had our Annual Sales Conference at the El San Juan, and this restaurant by far was the only thing I truly loved about this hotel. Luis, the General Manager exceeded every expectation! His staff was courteous, professional, and responsive at every turn. Luis and his team managed our large crowd of 50 + people, effortlessly. The entrees were superb, the Gnocchi– a MUSTHAVE, and for a picky Italian New Yorker, that’s saying something. Kudos Luis, your attention to detail, exceptional customer service, and fantastic team(both in and out of the kitchen) are top knotch. For anyone in the San Juan area, looking for an authentic Italian meal, La Piccola Fontana is As good as it gets!

As a New Yorker born and raised, I am always hesitant to try Italian out of NY or Italy. But after eating authentic Puerto Rican food the last few days, we decided to try some Italian tonight. We made our reservation for 8:30pm with only 3 hours notice, and didn’t have to wait at all once we arrived. The atmosphere is great — I would describe it as contemporary Italian chic. Loved the bubble chandeliers. Once seated, we were served complementary bruschetta and bread with flavored butters. Very tasty. We ordered our meal, starting with the buratta appetizer. It came with four thick slices of good quality prosciutto. The buratta itself was ok — I thought it tasted a little sour and was not as creamy as other burrata I’ve had. Then our entrees arrived. I got the Pasta Mediterranean, which wish penne pasta with eggplant, olives, and buffalo mozzarella in a tomato sauce. Very tasty, although the sauce wasn’t the most flavorful. My husband got the Chicken Parm with penne pasta in bolognaise sauce in the side. The chicken was perfectly crispy and topped with just the right amount of cheese and sauce. The pasta was great — it could have been a meal in itself with big chunks of meat in the sauce. For dessert we got the flourless chocolate cake. I was stuffed at this point, but could not help but take a few bites. The warm cake was served with vanilla ice cream — so good! My only complaint is that we don’t have a fridge at our hotel, because we would have loved to take home our leftovers! Definitely recommend this restaurant for a departure from the traditional PR fare.

Service was great. Salads were very good. Main entrée, gnocchi, was ok… a bit bland and was swimming in sauce. Also had the special, pasta with bolgenese, which was just ok. A bit pricey and a bit disappointing.

amazing! food atmosphere and service were all incredible. yes, as some have mentioned it is pricey but the portions are great compared to most upscale restaurants. antipasto platter is delicious and the flavored butters they give are as well. Amazing! Currently staying at the ESJ towers next door to the beautiful El San Juan Hotel where the possibilities are endless for food options. This restaurant is extremely chic and the food was amazing. Lobster risotto, the red snapper siciliana(chefs special) and the chicken parm were all amazing and New York worthy! The service was great, our waiter Jashua knew exactly what we were looking for and helped us sort through our options for the best meal… The portions were very generous and although this menu could seem pricy to some, I’m from New York and lets be honest. You get what you pay for. The flourless chocolate cupcake was also very rich and decadent(although no chocolate lava) it was still very delicious. This place exceeded my expectations! When in isla verde this restaurant is a must.

I tend to avoid Italian cuisine outside the north eastern US. Just a bit snobby about it but every once in awhile I come across a restaurant that makes rethink my policy. The food was excellent. Flavorful and presented perfectly. The staff were amazing and worked together so they were not interfering with your conversation but just made the dining experience that much better. I had a delicious swordfish that I was only upset about when I tasted my girlfriends perfectly cooked veal. She is a wine connoisseur and was impressed with their selection. Worth every penny I Highly recommend especially when your burnt out of mofongo.

An excellent fine dining experience here @ La Piccola Fontana 5 star service, attentive and courteous waiters readily at your service with a bottle of wine. I freaking adore any restaurant that starts off with the good ol bread & butter! Of course, La Piccola Fontana provided complimentary assortment of breads with a selection of different seasoned butter spreads! Marvelous. Followed by: Mozzerella caprese with Proscuitto Arugula Salad Linguine«Frutti di Mare» Lobster Ravioli All which were served in large portions and tasted of the finest quality ingredients. Conclusion: –1 star because lets be real here, this was a complimentary dinner and there would be no way in hell i’d pay over $ 40 bucks for a plate of food man! Unless it’s one of those molecular gastronomy type of deal cuisines, my a** would not go here.
