If you want a nice September late lunch experience and delicious well-presented food, try Apertif’s hidden courtyard with pumpkin colored walls. There are lovely purple and white fresh flowers on the white cloth draped wooden tables, seat cushions ease the outdoor furniture, and the service was neither too much nor too little, both pleasant and professional from the young waitstaff. We had fresh salads and the regional meat and cheese plate. While the salads were simple, they were also prepared with a bit of care. The small red onions were thinly sliced but also divided nicely by the chef,(so I didn’t have to do it!). Simple vinaigrette, but tossed thoroughly, also appreciated. The regional platter(on a large wooden board/lazy susan) included sausages(two types), a meaty pâté, smoky local cheeses, nice little rolls, fresh tomatoes, butterleaf lettuce, small pickles, and was way more than we could finish for 39 Polish zlotys. Our waiter packed the ample leftovers for us. One of us had a nice glass of Malbec. Although close to the touristy old town, this place feels«away», something like places in Santa Monica, or Paris, just a tiny quiet lovely space for a respite and simple but very good food.

we went for an early dinner and they were sold out of 4 of the 10 or so main dishes they had the menu which was pretty disappointing b/c of course those were the ones that looked the best. i ended up getting a salmon dish w/a mango salsa on top and the salmon was great as well as the zucchini that was stuffed with some sort of cheese but i wasn’t a huge fan of the mango sauce it was just ok. my husband got a soy chicken dish b. c he loves sodium and well he said it was even too salty for his liking so it must have been pretty dang salty. prices were good and great for the portion size. the waiter was not very attentive and disappeared for a while and didn’t come back until we were ready to check out. all in all i would go back to give it another shot and hope it proves to be better b/c i see potential

I had the rabbit leg caramelized in honey, braised in red wine and plum with roasted vegetables. It was one of the finest meals I have eaten. Service was attentive and not at all slow. The waitress was helpful with excellent English.

Apéritif is one of those places where you can seek for shelter in winter and have their hot(as in slightly spicy) fish/seafood soup, AND also spoil yourself with a very affordable chicken burger(grilled chicken breast in ciabatta) from their lunch menu in their little back garden, weather permissible. It has a Mediterranean-like feel in terms of the interior and this is also reflected in the seasonal menu that keeps changing from time to time. What I appreciate about this place is that I always feel very welcome and taken good care of while dining. The staff are professional and eager to help and communicating in English is not a problem. Apéritif is also an excellent place to organise larger dinner parties(i.e. for 60 people if even more!?) For such occasions they compose really nice menus with a few choices for each course which eases the speed at which everyone makes their order. Everyone wins! The chocolate fondant is an absolute hit by the way– this alone is worth the visit!

This is one of our favorite restaurants in Krakow. I’ve been going once a week for 6 months with my coworkers and always have amazing food. The steaks are almost as good as the best in Houston. They come with a lovely mushroom truffle sauce and are cooked perfectly. The staff is always very friendly and speak english well. Of course, it sometimes takes 3 hours to eat here, but that is typical europe and I’ve gotten used to it. If you are really in a hurry, you can ask for the check. They will never bring it to you unless asked. I think they just don’t want people to feel rushed out. I also came here fot Valentine’s day and had the pork tenderloin with a vegetable lasagna side that was to die for. I think I will go back again tonight!

Tried the cheeseburger, it came smothered in RAW bacon, no choice of cheese, ketchup had a hair in it, the waitress, «sylwia» was extremely rude, didn’t even apologize. She was impossible to find the entire meal, and we were her only table. I’ve gotten used to this kind of service in Pl, but this place looked nicer. I expected more. The coke I ordered was totally flat, and they had no tabasco or any spicy condiments whatsoever… said with a menacing frown by the aforementioned server. Stay away.

We visited Apéritif on a Sunday evening, after walking past the previous night and seeing how busy it was. The food(mostly french/italian style with some Polish and other dishes) was good, especially considering the reasonable prices. The imported wines and spirits were relatively expensive, at around 100PLN for a lower end bottle of(South African) wine, and 25PLN for an Irish coffee, but that’s normal in Krakow. I suppose you could stick to local beer if you were on a budget. Whilst the service started off very well, it quicky degraded as more people came into the restaurant. It’s not fine dining, but it’s excellent food for the money, and worth a visit.

This was our second visit to Krakow but our first in the summer. We found this place online prior to going(170709) and emailed our booking prior to visiting on Sat 18 July. It was FANTASTIC! We have eaten in some of the best restaurants in the world and particularly Paris and London and this topped them all. The service and décor was superb and the food was in a different class. We both had Kir Royals to drink at the start then two courses each.(I had the most perfectly cooked steak I’ve had in my life) and the total cost for thaat lot was £30 give or take 1 or 2 pounds sterling. It was really amazing. A bit pricy for French wines though. We bought a bottle of Moet et Chandon NV and that cost us about £50. Not worth that, but combined with the cost of the meal, it was still excellent value. The manager/partner, J speaks excellent English and knows his trade very well. We will go back again for a couple of days later this year just to eat there again. Can’t say enough about it. 5*+.
