The Sushi

This is the most reliable sushi place I’ve experienced in Auckland.
There’s always a lunchtime queue which means there’s a good turnover of food and the sushi is fresh. There’s a good range on offer and the quality of ingredients means the selection you choose isn’t padded out with rice, like you may get at the standard takeaway chains.

I used to work just down the road from The Sushi and it was my go-​to pretty much at least three times a week. Though not necessarily a cheap option, sushi is one of my favourites and The Sushi always satisfied.
It is mostly for takeaway sushi because there aren’t a heap of seats, but get your timing right and you can settle in with a magazine or sit outside in the sun. The Sushi, apart from it’s very creative name is my favourite sort of sushi store — the ones that let you pick your own. I just feel like sushi is so much fresher, bigger and the flavours are more unique when it is laid out in this way.
The service is here is always friendly and if something runs out that you want, they will make it up for you. There seems to be a switch up of some flavours every now and then which I really like.
It’s pretty popular during lunch so there may be a queue when you get there — but don’t let this put you off, it moves very quickly and most of all — it’s worth it!

More of a mid-​week takeaway bar than a restaurant, The Sushi has a few seats at the side and so makes it a good spot to meet a friend for lunch. If you do eat in you can also get a carafe of water rather than buying a drink, saving a few dollars and helping the environment along the way.
I like the range of sushis available here. Not being a fan of the raw fish (I do realise that is what sushi should be) I like the fact there is cooked fish/​meat/​chicken sushi and vegetable sushi available. As well as all those delectable deep fried goodies that are like Japanese KFC.
Every time I’ve been in/​walked past there’s a queue out the door so this must be a regular lunchtime haunt of local Parnell office workers.
