Switch Bar is the new gay bar on the K’Road strip, but the space itself is probably more recognisable as Kiss and Bacio, a two-​level club that was extremely popular during K’Road’s bygone raving era. Some of Family Bar’s familiar faces have traipsed on up the road to create the Switch space, which is a breath of fresh air compared to the old, stuffy, smoky hole that Kiss and Bacio used to be. Head there to see some of Auckland’s top drag queen talent on the weekend — I’m a huge fan of Tess Tickle and Kita Mean, who feature there regularly.
