Global Sandwich

What first attracted me to Global Sandwich wasn’t the concept of a Sandwich which encombassed the entire globe. It was the sign which proclaimed «free banana with every coffee.» Ever have those mornings when you aren’t sure if you are in overdraft but you don’t really want to check so you just don’t spend any money? Well Global Sandwich is the place for you. I’m pretty sure that is the greatest start to the day any one could hope for. A long black coffee and a free banana.
They also, funnily enough, sell sandwiches. And other assorted food goods. If you go after 5 (I think,) they will be selling 2 for 5 dollar items — so you can pick up a pie and sandwich for the bus ride home.

It’s nestled amongst a doughnut shop, a cake shop, and a churro shop! Who do you think is going to choose a sandwich when there are these other tempting options around! But hey if I was to be choosing a sandwich, which I do try and do, I’d at least want it to be from global sammy!
First of all I love the name… global sandwich. It makes this place feel like a world-​class enterprise for filled rolls! Like all the world’s sandwiches originated from this very store. Now that would be taking it a bit far, but in honesty the sandwiches are good! I went through a phase of grabbing a chicken roll every day.
They are obviously made in bulk and put on the shelves a little while before you head in but they are always fresh and taste bloody good! Don’t make the sad mistake of waiting till lunch time to grab your roll though, they will surely all be gone by then!

I miss uni days at AUT solely for the once a week trip (trying to keep it healthy of course) to Global Sandwich. It’s right around the corner from the AUT Tower so convenience-​wise, it was A+.
The chicken rolls here are seriously good and I really like their baked goods as well! I’m a big fan of their caramel slice and still crave it every now and then. They sell a variety of foods so they cater for whatever you’re feeling like. Admittedly, I’ve never had one of their sandwiches. And that was because I was obsessed with their pies (mince and cheese to be precise). I can assure you you probably won’t find one better in the CBD, these babies are usually gone by lunchtime, and knowing your luck it’ll be the one you were thinking about all morning! But I’d suggest getting one anyway, that pie pastry they make is amazing. Global Sandwich is the best place to spend that extra change and more.

I forgot my lunch at Uni more often than not, but luckily this place was here to save my little behind. I’d rush off the bus and have a whole healthy lunch before I knew it.
This place is packed with sandwiches, muffins, salads, fruit, soup and everything my mum would approve of. Well, maybe not so much the chocolate bars. But hard working brains need a boost every now and again right?
The best thing is, is that the food’s really cheap. I loved their fruit salad containers that are filled with melon, apple, grapes… all the nice fruits. And the soups were perfect on those cold winter days.
They also have seating outside which is great if you want to chill in the sunshine and people watch for your lunch break. This shop is always a winner for me and I’m thankful for it’s convenience and price all the time.

The only place in Auckland you can fuel up on goodies for $ 3.70! Yes yes y’all $ 3.70! After a certain time, the sandwiches and rolls at Global Sandwich go on sale, half price for the items that are displayed at the entrance. For me this is heaven, nothing satisfies a student more than cheap food!
I saw the sign as I was about to head into Imax food court but I ran across the road to Global Sandwich. I bought a smoked chicken sandwich on five grain bread and a banana muffin. This cost me $ 3.70!
If you don’t believe me head down there yourself. Apart from the cheap price it’s nice to know that they are some honest people in this world who don’t recycle their food stock.
