I didn’t realise Amsterdam had so many good Surinamian joints and this happened to be my husband’s favorite place. We went there for dinner on a saturday night and its usually relatively quiet so no wait for a table — just grab a seat that looks free.
I was in the mood for roti so I ordered the one with lamb that came with chunks of potatoes and seasons green beans. I’m used to Jamaican style roti where they wrap it for you. I liked how they give you the roti on the side so it doesn’t get too soggy. It was so good and perfect for a cold rainy night.
My husband ordered the mixed nasi dish which comes with beef, chicken, 1 satay, some shredded coconut and what looks like seasoned tofu. All really good and recommended if you want a little bit of everything.
I hear the fried banana and the soup is good as well. Next time when we are in Amsterdam!

A lovely local hole in the wall my meal here was excellent and very reasonably priced. Recommended by my AirBnb host it was a fun find but not normally what I would have chosen for a solo meal out. In addition the restaurant doesn’t serve any alcohol.
