Awesome little jenever tavern on one of the quieter side streets downtown. Due to its location and size, it doesn’t get the mobs of tourist traffic that most bars in this part of the city get, so the atmosphere is much more relaxed and old-​fashioned. The owner (Raymond?) is super friendly and will go quietly about his business (pouring drinks and polishing glassware) or entertain you, per your preference. And if you aren’t familiar with jenever, he’s very helpful in walking you through the (dozens of!) options he offers across the sensory spectrum from bitter to sweet. All in all, a great little hidden treasure for those seeking a more nontraditional Amsterdam experience than drinking Heinekens with hordes of tourist bros.
