Très bonne adresse, cuisine bistrot chic à la française en plein cœur d’Amsterdam. Je vous recommande la choucroute de la mer. Un vrai régal.

Both food and service are good. One issue is the salad was not well cleaned and I found a piece of earth in salad. The waiter said he would bring it before Chef but no more feedback after.

We four were staying just a few blocks from Bistrot Neuf, conveniently located a stone’s throw from the Singel Canal and a five minute walk from Amsterdam Centraal station. It is a trendy-yet-cozy placed with excellent food and a good wine list at reasonable prices. The complimentary olive plate and Cipollini onions were hits, and included some tasty Periwinkles(the mollusk, not the flower) and little straight pins for extracting them. The menu was short, but we had some difficulty deciding among the various offerings, all of which proved to be nicely prepared and presented. I would include a photo, but that option does not appear available as I write this. The service was very engaging though a bit slow, but everything was indeed fresh, and we generally take many hours when dining together — albeit with a few more courses consumed — so that can be excused. The Manager, Jam, was kind enough to vet our list of restaurant candidates and added a couple of others that we were pleased to have patronized. We would gladly return.

I LOVE this place, the food, the service and the price you get it all for! A Bistro as it should be and with many great wines by the glass. When up for romance reserve a table in the back, the rest has a more modern and buzzy feel.

My husband and I shared a marvelously romantic late dinner here on our first night in Amsterdam. Everything was perfect: the friendly, attentive service, the atmospheric low lighting, the excellent bottle of Sancerre we split, and most of all the food. We were overwhelmed by the menu, since everything on it looked amazing. We ended up getting the chef’s tasting menu, as well as a dozen oysters, and were so glad we did! We were hesitant because there was a foie gras appetizer we really wanted us to try, but the waiter assured us that foie gras would make an appearance in the tasting menu… and it did! And it was delicious! I unfortunately don’t remember details about what we ate(see previous note about the bottle of Sancerre), but everything was lip-smack-tastic and we cleaned our plates. After a couple of days in Amsterdam we headed to Paris, where we naturally ate French food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner for the duration of our stay. Despite this, our meal at Bistrot Neuf stands out as among the best French meals we had in Europe… and it’s not even in France!

Hmmm, Bistro Neuf looks like a 5 star place probably because of the atmosphere and oysters. Unfortunately, our dinner formule was disappointing with the exception of the bouillabaisse. I did not feel as if we received our money worth at Neuf.

Perfect place in a perfect neighborhood. The ambience of this place is super cozy. I have had business dinners and dinners with friends here and it goes well for any occasion. The menu is updated regularly so there is always something to look forward to. Their brioche bun with foie gras used to be great, the oysters are always good, the cote de boeuf is more than plenty for two people… I could go on and on… I have always enjoyed the food here. The wine selection is brilliant as they get it from the wine store Chabrol next door — so rest assured, you will get what you want in terms of wine. The service is friendly, timely and lovely. I have never had lunch here, always dinners. I have always made reservations so mostly got the day/time I wanted. So, my recommendation — perfect for a lovely dinner on any occasion.

My favorite restaurant in Amsterdam! I love it so much, I ate here twice and was tempted to go back! Lunch: Sirloin steak with pepper sauce, fries, and salad: Good Dinner: Homemade classic pâté with croutons, gherkins, and caramelized silver skin onions: Delicious! Lobster Truffle Sandwich: Delicious! Love the French oysters, wine selection, interior, and service. The menu varies a bit so what I’ve had may not be on the menu. The restaurant is relatively small like most restaurants in Amsterdam and may require reservations on a busy night! Check out the link below for up to date menu:

I like this place. Been here 3 times now– very happy with each experience. Seafood bisque is very tasty. Almost like meal… I live their oyster steak tartare. Really strange combination… But I love both so why not just have everything I like on one plate. The atmosphere is relaxed and quite fun. Definitely not the typical«French» restaurant that you would expect. Reasonably priced. Win!

Great food. A bit pricy and service could be better. Get the roasted lamb.

I had been wanting to eat at Bistrot Neuf for like, forever, and finally made it during restaurant week. It was as nice as I had hoped! Now, being restaurant week it was SUPER busy, but we were seated pretty quickly(of course had a reservation) in a corner spot that despite the chaos was calm and we could hear our dinner companions just fine. We had no problem with service, everything was prompt and the food was amazing! We stuck with the 3 course restaurant week deal(the fish stew I had was a giant portion of cod served with mussels on the side on a puddle of saffron broth… YUM). The lentil salad that started was also really nice. One of our pals tried the steak tartar and raved about how nice it was(not on the pre fixe menu). Of course, because Bistrot Neuf is associated with the wine shop next door which resulted in a nice wine list to choose from. I really enjoyed eating here, and I hope to go again! It was a lovely evening.

I visited Bistro Neuf ages ago when I first came to Amsterdam and had forgotten about ever since. In search of something out of our normal routine, we decided to go French for an evening. Charming and easy to reach location on the Harlemmerstraat which is nice. Tables are a bit too cozy for my taste, but it’s to be expected. The staff is quite friendly and let us call ahead on a busy night to make a reservation which was handy. Nice appetizers(try the toast soldiers with egg & caviar) and the fish of the day was an amazing swordfish filet which was cooked perfectly. Service was mediocre — took ages to get menus, drinks, the bill, etc. When our wine was refilled, they didn’t bring us the same wine as what we were originally drinking. Overall the food is enough to overlook the service, but it’s a shame that that overshadowed what would otherwise have been a perfect meal.

***Bistro Neuf’s MOP(Meal in One Pic)*** ********************************************* In an area that has mainly Kebabs, Fries Shop, Fast Food, Pizza and not so much restaurants Bistrof Neuf is a great restaurant for lunch and is not too far from Central Station. The lunch menu is particularly stellar as it has great dishes for affordable fare. A lunch portion of the bouillabaisse was 11 euros and it had real lobster!!! The croque Monsieur was 7 euros. For lunch there is one chef in the small open kitchen preparing everything. The food might come slowly so please do not come to Bistrot Neuf if you are in a rush. The Herring shop on the bridge should do it for you. We tried: Bread Basket All the breads were good and tasted fresh. Nice butter came in the basket. Bouillabaisse For lunch, this portion of fish soup was amazing. It had 4 mussels, 4 clams, fish, and a bit of lobster. The rouille was well done. It had nice seasoning and a lot of flavros. The seafood was well cooked and was not too chewy. A great dish Croque Monsieur Rustic croque monsieur smothered with delicious cheese. Every ingredient was perfect. From the artisan bread which was a great idea instead of Pain de Mie, to the thick slice of ham, to the small salad. The bechamelle was well balanced and the right amount was put on the sandwich(which is not too much). A simple, small but feeling Croque Monsieur. On your way to Central Station, take a small detour to enjoy good french dishes in the mist of Amsterdam.

From wine to dessert all of our dishes had something wrong. This means in fact that half of the dishes we ordered came as some other dish(i.e. onion soup turns into mushroom cream). In good French, pénible.

Have been there already quite a few times, but always for dinner. This time, I tried it out for lunch and I must admit it was disappointing. I imagine the lunch chef is not the same as the dinner one. We ordered a pâté to start with(very nice as always) I then had an entrecôte: it was hard, well cooked but the quality of the meat was not good. It was tough and rubbery. It came with good fries, ncie mayonnaise and some veggies on the side My lunch date had a tartare which was not good at all. The pieced of meat were really big, not as it should be in a tartare. The dressing was ok, but overtaking the taste of the meat(maybe it was done on purpose) the service is always good, but was long that time We got a platter of different types of desserts and tea. It was ok, nothing exceptional All in all, better going there for dinner.
