Beautiful spot for the special occasion except the food. It’s an Indian fusion after which we got upset stomachs. Curry were nothing compare to the real Indian curries. Lassies are the only thing we liked. Prices are worth for sunset but not for the quality and taste of their meals. I wonder if Japanese in the same building is any better. Such a shame as people don’t know an authentic Indian food here.

Outstanding. Sit outside on the bay. The naan bread was outstanding, and every dish we had was better than the next. If you sit outside, try to sit to the left of the main entrance as you walk towards the bay, the sunset view is incredible. Waitstaff was pleasant and the service was outstanding. Highly recommend this place.

I am an Indian and can tell when Punjabi food is good. This restaurant make good food and has good vegetarian options. We liked the ambiance next to the lagoon. We went there twice and felt that the best time for sunset dinner is to be there at 6pm. We ordered 3 – 4 entrees and they all tasted good. Portion size are decent, considering that they are a high-end restaurant with prices on the high end. But we thought that the prices were worth the food. We also checked out their kitchen which is on the back and on the other side of the walkway. You can observe how their chef makes the food and we found the kitchen to be clean. It is very important for us that the kitchen is clean and vegetarian food is made in separate pots and pans than the non-veg food. Their staff was able to cater the food to our desire. The only downside that we saw was that the curry base for 2 subji entrees were same which was unusual and they could use a little less cream in them. However, it was not a major concern. All in all, a great restaurant at a great location, ambiance, and tasty food. If you are staying at Westin Lagunamar, it is very close to this place and you should try it out one night! We loved it!

This place has amazing food and an excellent atmosphere! I give it 4 out of 5 because it was kinda hard to find and you have to walk through the mall to get there, which can be a pain. But the food and atmosphere once there make it absolutely worth it! Also, if you are a vegetarian it is a legit great place to have dinner!

Here in December 2015. Was definitely our favorite place we ate in Cancun. Everything was wonderful and the service was wonderful. We sat on the lagoon and even though it was night, we still had a very cool experience and view. Definitely gets very hot and muggy eating spicy food outside but the experience was worth it!

I wish their food was as good as the ambience. Too much price and lack of taste. Only came here because I got tired of Mexican food for four straight days. We ordered Chicken Seekh Kabab, Paneer Makahani and a potato curry. I don’t think the chef is Indian and if he or she is Indian, they are very bad. I wish I had read Jamil’s review before I got here. AVOIDTHISPLACEATALLCOSTS. People that gave this restaurant a good review don’t know what they are talking about as far as Indian food or they are friends of the owner.

When you think of Cancun you usually don’t think Indian food, but I have to tell you this place was excellent. The dishes are so flavorful and the service was excellent. If you are ever in Cancun make it a point to add this place to your list.

Beautiful and romantic location right on the waters edge of the lagoon. Dim lighting with wonderful jazz playing in the background. Started with a glass of wine, and ordered the Fish Molly and the Chicken Tikka Masala. Rice does not come included so we ordered a rice pilaf on the side and a garlic naan. The entire meal was impeccable. Afterwards the wait staff surprised me with a large cheesecake slice for my birthday. Everything was spot on and we were incredibly happy with our experience at Elefanta. Afterwards you can walk the shopping plaza!

We tried this place craving for Indian food at the end of our stay in Cancun, it turned out to be one of the best decisions we took. It is located in the mall, right on the waterfront, great ambience, dimly lit, nice music, perfect recipe for a relaxing meal. We tried chicken kabab which was soft and spicy and Raan which was slightly sweet but had high quality meat served with onion Kulcha. Would highly recommend this place if you looking for authentic Indian food.

Loved this place in Cancun, we plan on going again on our next visit. The hookah wasn’t all that good but we really liked the sushi and curry. Plus, there was a crocodile right below our sitting area. Loved the atmosphere, great service and decently priced. Worth a visit if you’re in the area.

Stellar wait staff, food and beautiful surroundings. Ample offerings for vegetarians. Had the Nargasi Kofta vegetable dumpling. Absolutely delicious, especially the sauce. Many vegetarian and non vegetarian entrees. Shared the Vegetarian Platter, not as good as the dumpling but delicious. Carefully seasoned for someone who prefers minimal hot spice. Also ordered the Naan in garlic and the Byrani Rice. Finger licking delicious. Friendly waiter. Loved being on the lagoon with all the lanterns. Food came to $ 52 without drinks. Probably the most romantic spot on the hotel zone.

Let me start with the fact that even with this review, less than one percent of my reviews are 1 star. Elephanta is a beautiful place. It should get three stars just because of the fact that it is beautiful. You can not take that away from them. It is situated on the water. It has amazing looking booths. It really dresses the part. For someone, this place has the opportunity to make amazing memories. Unfortunately, that someone is not me. I had one of the most terrible dining experiences I have ever had at Elephanta. What is more astonishing, is that they accomplished this in a beautiful setting. There is a sushi place connected to the restaurant. The hostess was not trying to have anyone go over there and insisted on indian to sit at the water. Fine. I live in Jackson Heights, NY. Indian food is a staple. People travel to my hood for Indian food. I love indian food. I eat it all the time. Good, bad, ugly, you try places where I am from. You explore and find the gems. Elephanta is the beautiful fake apple you eat by accident. The food was horrible. The chicken tikka marsala tasted like sloppy mud and was inedible. The waiter was pleasant, dressed in theme like clothing, and didn’t know anything about anything except walking food to the table. He was ill equipped to take an order. However he smiled, he tried and he was nice. I had to remember he didn’t cook the food. However, when told the Naan he produced was not what we ordered, especially since he discussed the Naans with us(kinda), he just started at us. He didn’t take the Naan. He didn’t say sorry. He finally said, that is not the Naan you ordered(kinda). Then he stared. Like a deer in headlights. There was nothing. So we asked him to take it off the table and the bill. It was clear no one wanted Naan once we tasted the worse indian food in the world. He came back with the same Naan(kinda). Once we realized we were not on a TV show and not being pranked, and we could not eat anymore of the goulash they were dishing out, we politely paid and left. We even left a tip. I didn’t get to eat anything nice at Elephanta, but it was worth every penny to be able to write this review and warn others before they sit there and discover what disappointment tastes like. All that glitters is not gold. Elephanta is beautiful. So are the plates and cups and tables. You can eat the food. However, you might want to make dinner plans afterwards.

Love this place. The food is incredible and the location is beautiful. I go here every time I am in Cancun. Make sure you use the complimentary mosquito spray… you need it for your legs.

My family was on a search for sushi so we ended up here. The ambiance is awesome. It’s all basically outdoors so it can get a little warm but they have fans going and the tables are little booths decorated with pillows. Intimate setting! The food is on the pricier side but the quality is good. To give you a better idea of costs, my group consisted of six adults and our tab was $ 333. We started off with the tempura rock shrimp, baby squid, and edamame as appetizers. All were really flavorful. It’s hard to say which one was the best but the tempura rock shrimp was the biggest appetizer if you’re sharing with a larger group. I personally got the kiury maki roll, which consisted of rock shrimp, and it was delicious. It’s wrapped with a thin layer of cucumber. We partnered our food with two different bottles of sake: nigori cream sake and takara Sierra cold sake. The nigori cream sake was the smoothest sake I’ve ever had. Food was great. Service was great. Dope ambiance. If you want good sushi in Cancun and money isn’t a concern, I would definitely go here.

Our trip to Cancun would have been incomplete without a visit to this place! Given, we are of Indian origin, we are very critical about Indian food at restaurants and especially the ones that claim to be authentic. Elephanta to us has mastered the trifecta of the food service industry: location, service and food! Location: located along the zone hotelera, it is convenient to drive or take a taxi/cab from most hotels for about USD10. It is located at Cancun’s fashion harbor which is a great place to walk around before or after dinner. The restaurant is open until 11 which is great. The water front adds a classy and romantic touch to the restaurants. We got the water front tables and enjoyed our time there! Parking is easy — valet at Fashion Harbor is not very pricey. SERVICE: The wait staff was very friendly and courteous. Often spelling to us in Hindi and sharing insights on food. The service is quite quick although we went on a Saturday night! FOOD: The taste, presentation and flavors are very authentic! There are plenty of meat, sea food and vegetarian options and they are great with customizing spice levels. Overall fantastic restaurant and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Cancun!

Hands down the best Indian food I have ever had outside India. Now given that I am Indian and have travelled to 20+ countries, that’s a very big compliment. Food was amazingly tasty! Ambience was unbelievably romantic — nice seating area by the lagoon. Very romantic with light breeze touching your face as you have food sitting right by the lagoon with your sweet heart. Service was great — we arrived without a reservation but they accommodated us quickly. Price was good — around 230 peso per curry and around 50 – 60 peso per naan. Price is decent for the amazing experience and amazing taste. It was one of my best experiences in Cancun and probably the best experience outside India with that good food.

Found this fusion Indian, Thai and Sushi place walking in the mall situated behind the Aquarium the Ambience cannot be better… on the Lagoon, still calm water, moon reflection… perfect lighting. they have a gem of place to start… is the food good? we started with Amritsar(The center of food in India) lobster… perfect…blend of cumin and kasoori methi… was tender yet very artistically done. butter chicken and Kerla coconut fish curry were very good
