We emailed ahead to get a reservation for the first night of our stay at the hotel paradisus Cancun. Or initial reservation was at 730; however, due to a flight delay by the time we were dinner ready it was 800. Despite our lateness they still joyfully welcomed us. The menu at bana is predominantly composed of sushi, bit they menu is labeled for the gluten free populace with little wheat symbols«sin gluten. «. We ordered some drinks, nothing fancy and then in ordered my usual order of a salmon roll and tried a shrimp and cucumber roll. After I finished ordering the waiter insisted that we should get an appetizer or something else. I told him I didn’t see anything marked on the menu gluten free as an appetizer and he immediately flew into action. He asked the chefs, brought back edamame and gluten free soy sauce… Food was very good, smaller portions perhaps but great service. I will be going back. The waiters are amazing!!!

This was by far the best restaurant out of all the all inclusive dining options at Paradisis. We enjoyed the appetizers, sushi and a chicken dish. The area is very romantic but, I will warn dark — possibly hard to see a menu dark. It’s centered in the atrium of the hotel which may be the hottest place on earth. If you can get past that we had excellent service and delicious sushi. I wish I knew about this place on my trip sooner would have eaten here more!

We made reservations. Showed up early and they were able to accomodate us early win! win! The different thing about this restaurant is it is located in the center of the hotel. And open to the quarter of the hotel. But it has lavish greenery and water features and little fun bridges to cross over so you feel more secluded! It is still hard to believe that this restaurant is really in the grand opening. But all the shrubbery really gives it, its own space. We came here two nights during our stay. We made reservations both times we had dinner. But neither night was super packed! First night. Food service was great. Our server was Francisco he first asked if anyone had allergies. Since none of us did he recommeneded if he were to bring us a sampler platter. Although it is not specifically on the menu. They can give us a taste of everything.(Its all included so why not plus sushi hello?!) We trusted his decision and out came an array of sushi and sashimi. Sashimi is well the same everywhere i feel just a piece of fish but the sushi was really good. So good we knew we had to come back again! In addition to our massive sushi sharing. I decided to order the seeweed salad. The first visit here i ordered it and it was amazing had some fresh fruit slices on it. The second night i wasnt crazy about it. On the second visit when we came i asked for it and the waiter. I forgot his name. Said they were out of it. I thought ok no big deali was lucky to have it the first visit. A few moments later a seeweed salad a appeared?! I thought either im lucky or not so lucky… My friends joked maybe it was a leftover from someone elses? I was hopefully it wasnt. Presentation was great. Looked the same. But this time had more of an acidic taste? Maybe it was bottom of the bowl with left over juices? Not sure so i opted to not finish it. Everything else that was served that second visit was great. The gyoza and shumai were standard.

«There’s something happening here But what it is ain’t exactly clear» (Buffalo Springfield — For What It’s Worth) Picture this –a 7:30PM dinner and the restarant is SODARK that you can’t read the menu. Seriously, our table, and the two other tables in our area could not read the menus. Luckily I had a flashlight app on my phone to help us out. But c’mon –doesn’t management have a clue that you can’t have a dining room one degree removed from pitch black? Second thing that immediately soured us was the oscillating fan standing about 5 feet away from us, so it would give us a blast every five seconds or so. Then we turned to the food and things slightly improved. A bowl of edamame appeared and that was anice starter. Our appetizers were shrimp shu mai, pork gyoza, and calamari. They all TASTED good, but they were absolutely tepidly warm and teenily tinily portioned. My spicy tuna hand roll was very good. My Thai shrimp curry was very good. It was presented inside a folded banana leaf held in place with wood chopsticks. The portion was small. Desserts were green tea ice cream and banana tempura — both were excellent. Conclusion? The food was pretty good half of the time, but the whole experence just seemed a little«off» to me…

I am VERY impressed. Out of all the restaurants offered to us at Paradisus, we came back to this one for a second time. The sushi, while not something spectacular that blows your mind when you read the description… was normal mainstream sushi. If you are looking for a roll brought to your table on fire or something crazy like that, this won’t meet your expectations. If you are looking for the usual roles like a Spider, Caterpillar, Dragon, Spicy(insert fish here), California, and Philly you will be happy. They even have some of their own creations that are neat such as a baked roll and one that is even comprised of all fruit(did not try that one) The sashimi was great and so were the hand rolls they made for us that were large with plenty of tuna. Appetizers were normal such as spring rolls, Gyoza and Edamame but the seaweed salad was GREAT! Very different than ones I am used to… and tasted excellent. If you are staying at Paradisus, and like sushi, this will be a go-to and come-back place.

Ate here last night, sushi rolls were ok, not the best. Our appetizer was the tempura calimari, by the time it came out it was cold and soggy. The rice they used for sushi was weird and didnt taste like it was prepared properly. We also had some salmon shashimi and that was much better, fish was really soft and tasted clean. Only concern for that was it was warm for shashimi grade.
