There was a night where my friends from overseas came down to KL and stayed in the city center. They wanted Bak Ku Teh so I decided to bring them to one of the stalls in Jalan Ipoh. There are actually quite a number of great local food places here but I decided to let them try out our famous Bak Ku Teh. The place was semi packed at about 6PM. Staffs are neither friendly or unfriendly. Good thing they are at least efficient. My friends loved the bak ku teh here but I personally think that the one I frequent in PJ Old Town is better. Each of us paid about RM20 with drinks and side dishes. Pretty pricey but what do you expect, it’s Jalan Ipoh.

This restaurant is located opposite of the HSBC Bank in Jalan Ipoh and they are known for serving Bak Kut Teh in claypot style. I’m not a fan of bak kut teh but for the sake of trying out the taste, I had order a small portion for myself. I wouldn’t say that this serves the best bak kut teh in town, but it was just about a good to go if you are craving for one. The taste of herbs isn’t as strong as I thought. If you are thinking of asking for more soup, they will serve you but with a rude stare given back to you. A portion of bak kut teh with rice and soup can cost you RM15 — which I think it is rather pricey.

I used to come here for a meal at night for supper because it closed really late and i know eating BKT at night is so unhealthy but i can’t help the chinese in me. If you are wondering what to eat just have this awesome Bak Kut Teh. The soup is not very thin and not very thick, dark brown due to the meat and the herbs, in my opinion Bak Kut Teh soup has to have a the pork taste in if not it will be tasteless or it will taste more on herbs. You could order the meat you want, pork stomach, soft bone, big bone, tau fu pok and many more. Many people come here because the soup is really good but the chilli is not very spicy. Try ordering in chinese because the one who took order from us, my partner spoke chinese. In reasonable price, you can have a good supper meal for your friends. Such a satisfying meal when you come in group.
