Kim Lian Kee is one of the many reasons how Hokkien Mee is becoming the main selling noodle dish among the Chinese community, and it is easy to see why. Their Hokkien Mee is well, tasty. However, their taste is drastically different from their rivals like the ones in Uptown, because it is much oilier, but with a flavor profile that distances it from all the other similar dishes. They do serve other things too, most of them being noodles, but seeing that their Hokkien Mee is a taste that is tailored for Malaysians, you might not be able to take the dishes here if you are a foreigner with a disdain for glistening noodles. However, if you are, this place actually serves good food, and if you happened to reach Petaling Street by mere coincidence or whatnot, you can try this place and give their Hokkien Mee a good try!

Kim Lian Kee is one of the most popular Hokkien Mee around town because of how long they have been in the market. The started in Petaling Street and due to its’ popularity, they are opening up branches across KL and PJ. Ask any KL person where to have Hokkien Mee and they will probably suggest you to come here. Being a foodie I had to give them a try and I am very disappointed and the noodles are just too overrated. The dish is very oily with strong pork oil taste that overpowers the taste, and very little vegetables and meat. Eating here would assure that you gain plenty of weight and line your intestines with a whole lot of oil. Yuck, bad taste, unhealthy, this is a place I will make sure not to come again in future.

Have you been to Petaling Street? it is our famous street that has history that over more than a century at Malaysia Kuala Lumpur. well, it is not just a street that selling bags, clothes or street food, there is also a chinese restaurant that been famous for a very long time, I loving their hokkien mee and claypot loh mee, their hokkien mee is super well cooked, they actually stew the noodle with the thick black soya sause in it, so the sause is all in the noodle, and we usually get this taste like sause and noodle is separeted, means like, they are not combine but more like just cooked the noodle with boiled water and just put the sause together. I believe you guys won’t like it though. But Kim Lian Kee Hokkien Mee is different, they are super major yummers to me, and I finally understand why is it so yummy and the restaurant is always packed with people order hokkien mee. Although their main famous dish is hokkien mee, there is more variety option for food, such as like claypot yee mee, is cooked by slim yellow noodle with seafood and vegetable, taste wasn’t that heavy, and for those whoever want to have something simple and nice you can also order this dish, there is another dish I would love to recommend is their fried yee mee with thicken dressing with pork meat, vegeatable and some seafood like strimp. and there is also vegetarian fried noodle and fried rice, so there is no reason you can resist this reataurant! It is not hard to notice if you are walking in petaling street, I would really recommend you guys to try out their dish. no worries with the portion, they have small, medium and large portion to choose!
