A very cool café/restaurant located on the outer exits of Shibuya Metro Station. It has free wifi and lots of outlets! I have also visited here for lunch & dinner before, both of which had a relatively cheap yet good taste & variety of foods. Today I decided to come here in order to do work outside of the office. Depending on the time you go, it can be very quiet and a great place to get your work done. Unfortunately, the café allows smoking inside & the majority of the outlets are within the smoking section. If you aren’t comfortable around cigarette smoke, I would not advise this café, since you can smell the smoke clearly from the non-smoking section. It can also get crowded since it is a rather famous café within tokyo, so it can get loud as well. Today I ordered the Vietnamese iced coffee with condensed milk. What was nice is that they make the ice cubes out of the same coffee mix, so it doesn’t water down the taste. However, the coffee cost a bit over 600 yen which is not too expensive if you consider the value of a great work environment.

Good coffee and great atmosphere. The second floor gives a nice view of the street if you want to people watch, and the laid back and somewhat upscale interior makes it a great place to hang out. They also have charging ports and free wifi.

Talk about a life saver… our WiFi was completely tapped out… and we needed to recharge. McDonalds didn’t have outlets… but luckily this place did… and plenty of them. The only downside? The outlets are only in the smoking section. Huh? Why? I get it… Japan has a huge smoking culture it seems — and while I got used to the fact that someone would be lighting up while I was eating sushi… I don’t get why at a coffee house, where people come to work on laptops… they only have the chargers in the smoking section. Granted to say this really ruined the experience for me — as not only am I not a smoker — I hate smoke. While charging up I ordered an iced royal milk tea. It was really good! They have a nice size menu with teas and coffees as well as various sandwiches and bites. I spotted a gentleman working on his laptop across the room that had a Unilocal sticker on his laptop. WHAT?! Really? Could this actually be happening? I’m halfway across the world and I found someone that likes Unilocal enough to put a sticker on their computer? Naturally I went over and chatted him up! Turns out he is a reporter and did a write up on my counterpart Rika — who is the Tokyo CM! What a small world man… love it! Overall, this place was a charging lifesaver, the tea is solid, the place is filled with creative types, but the smoking and set up unfortunately left some to be desired.

Honestly, not a fan. We stopped here to grab some coffee and charge our phones before heading out to Meiji Shrine. The menu was limited so we ordered coffee and tea. They allow smoking inside. Yes — you read that right. And even though they separate the«smoking» area from the«non smoking », it is all pretty much smokey. The service was very polite, but the shop itself is uncomfortable. Tons of people took advantage of the smoking area which made the air thick, and the coffee was bland so that didn’t help. Maybe it just wasn’t my scene? Perhaps that was the problem. I definitely wouldn’t return, and would not recommend it to a friend. But the place was pretty busy, so I guess they are doing something well.

I’m a greedy bastard when it comes to Wifi. Yes, I’ll go to a café with my laptop, order some of the cheapest things on the menu, such as a cup of coffee, and spend hours and hours editing my design work on my laptop. This is the place I kinda hate, because they have a comforting atmosphere(especially when it’s cold as hell outside and raining), but everything on the menu is basically over 500 yen. I order mashed potatoes, hoping for something that will just barely fulfill my appetite, but it comes out pretty skimpy and small on my plate. Freeman Café is smart, they know they can’t fool suckers like me and we’ll have to order more than that to use their wifi. ++ offers wifi ++ about a 5 – 10 min walk from Shibuya station/JR exit. ++ cozy interior(or maybe because it was raining outside) ++selection of drinks AND food — restroom is separated across the hallway — a bit? overpriced –meh mashed potatoes
