Who knew that subway station noodles could be so good. We were starving after a redeye, and this place was open by 730am. They have some pictures and food displays so that you can kind of figure out what to order, and the vending machine has the items in Japanese but also numbers that you can match up with the displays. After you use the vending machine, you hand them your ticket and choose soba or udon. We had a soba with tempura shrimp, which was super flavorful, and also an udon topped with fried panko flakes. Both broths were very well seasoned. The udon also came with a small katsu donburi, which totally hit the spot for me. You can also add an egg for around Y60, but we didn’t realize that until we got to the front, and we didn’t really have time to think/translate since the line moves so quickly. It was mostly Japanese business men in suits who came in alone to eat a bowl of noodles super quickly, and the turnover is very quick. This was a really good first breakfast, and the dashi smell outside is pretty amazing.
