One of my favorite chain places to go when I feel like a light meal. I came across this chain a few years ago in the Roppongi area and became a fan. This place specializes in ochazuke; which is made by pouring green tea, dashi broth, or hot water over cooked rice, usually with light but savory toppings. My personal favorites are the yuba(tofu skin) with grilled mentaiko(spicy cod roe) as well as a seafood tempura ochazuke — consists of shrimp and small scallops fried tempura-style. The ochazuke dishes also come with small sides such as tofu with a peanut dressing and oshinko(pickled cabbage). This location is counter space only so it’s not recommended for big groups. Definitely a go-to place for a light meal.

It’s a chain Ochyazuke joint. Ochyazuke is rice with light toppings and tea leaves you pour a hot broth over to create a rice porridge. It’s not fancy or flashy but the ingredients are fresh and the service is friendly. I highly recommend it if you are feeling a bit under the weather or recovering from a night out. It’s a quick served, no thrill, but light and tasty meal.
