I headed to this café with high expectation of meeting the Unilocalers. Approx. ten-minute walk from JR Kyoto station brought me to this awesome café. This café is located in Shichijyo St. If you live along Keihan railway line, it is reasonable to get off the train at Shichijyo and walk to the café for about 15 minutes. Super express train called Tokkyu also stops at this station. The café is located on the second floor of a building. As a small sign board stood in front of the building, I could easily recognize it. It is not so spacious that I imagined. However full of warm and cozy atmosphere. In addition it was ornamented in X’mas mood. It was nice to reserve seats even at lunch or café time. In the center a table for around ten customers is installed. The sofa and chairs were retro fashionable(^^) I have a slight back pain due to sitting all the time for preparing for some exam at home, I sat down at the sofa. The female staff member of the café was so kind and elaborate. They prepared a Japanese-taste tea mat even under a water glass. I ordered a bun-like sweet made of bean curd and café au lait as a sweet set at 700 yen. The bun-like sweet consists of two kinds, Yomogi(mugwort) and plain and is eaten with the syrup poured over it. The rare sweet was chewy and tasty. If you come here, please try one! Mari, one of the Unilocaler friends appeared slightly late and ordered a pancake. I regrettably missed one, though I checked it on website in advance. She was so kind that she gave me a bit of the pancake, even though it was tiny. The taste was also good! We spent three hours here, eating, drinking, or chatting. Some ordered meal and others alcoholic drink. Thank you, Ai, the hostess of this event, who reserved seats and showed careful consideration for us. This café is a hidden gem, so if you are at a loss for drink around bustling Kyoto station, I recommend you here ;)
