Everyone says to get the vegetarian ramen. It was spaghetti noodles in coconut broth– absolutely not ramen. It was just awful. The people are pretty nice and there’s an English menu. The atmosphere is pretty cool and the place was packed the night I went. Don’t get the ramen.

All I wanted was a great bowl of ramen in Japan. but without the pork. Momokuteki delivers. Service, not that great, but the vegan ramen was amazing. Don’t miss the spicy french fries. I want to go back!

Not entirely vegetarian. Almost half the available dishes have fish. Regardless of the limited selection of vegetarian dishes the food is fresh and quite good. They have fresh juices and organic beer. The restaurant is popular among tourists so it can get really packed.

Lovely ambience – not traditional décor, but rather very modern casual restaurant design. Although the temples of Kyoto have great vegan food, being able to snag a vegetarian meal in a central neighborhood is great. The food is delicious and reasonably priced.

Very delicious! Lots of veggie options! Unfortunately a lot of «fish» items but what’s great about this place is that they note when there is fish stock(dashi) in items as opposed to most«vegetarian» food in Japan. I had the soy-pork katsu set meal with miso soup, pickles and side dishes. It had the fish marking but I couldn’t figure out where it was coming from. Delicious though! I must visit for vegetarians and carnivores(that like veggies) alike!

So after my friends went to the best ramen place ever(Tenkaippen) I was desperate for my own ramen fix so I looked up a vegetarian restaurant in Kyoto and found this café. As one other reviewer said — you’ll see a craft shop and you walk upstairs to enter the café, so you just need to keep your eyes open so you don’t miss it. They have a fantastic range of vegetarian/vegan/organic dishes to choose from. I went for the ‘pork’ flavoured ramen but the tofu curry also looked amazing. The ramen itself was pretty good, very filling and did satisfy my craving. Friends also tried some of the desserts like the strawberry muffin and thought it was really good considering they try to refrain from using sugar. All in all a great spot if you need a vegetarian or vegan option!

If this café didn’t put a sign board of food menus in front of the building, I passed through the café. I was lucky to find this café. I love organic foods, which are considered nutritious and healthy for our body. However generally as for organic cuisine, it looks like a hospital diet. Actually I had such a hospital diet in some organic restaurant in Osaka. There was no customer except me, I understand its reason. That restaurant used nutritious ingredients, but tasted beyond light, nothing. This café got rid of such a bad image of the organic foods. In the menu hamburger, fried chicken with vinegar and tartar sauce, locomoco, or other animal protein foods were lined up. However they don’t use the animal protein at all. In addition, not only meats, but also sugar, eggs, milk is not also used. Hamburger, fried chicken, or locomoco made of soy bean and devil’s tongue plants tasted similar to the real ones. Also vegetables are fresh, organic and non-chemical shipped directly from local farms. I ordered a hamburger set at 1000 yen, which consisted of bean curd hamburger with tartar sauce, cooked pumpkin, small tomatoes, fresh green salad, miso soup, pickles, brown rice and grain rice(three types of rice can be chosen, only brown rice, only grain rice, or half and half) and the like. All of them were tasty! Certainly they were light taste, but I didn’t mind it at all. In addition, there are many seats(I didn’t count, because the café was so spacious, and there is a divided large room or sofa seats) and also counter seats facing the windows for single person are prepared. Although I went here alone, I didn’t mind others’ eyes. In front of the window there was a mini garden where grasses were planted, which made me cozy. Price, taste, atmosphere, all is full marks! It is located on the second floor of an associated boutique, a little confusing, and becomes a hidden place. I don’t want to inform others of here lest it should be crowded with more customers.

After walking around Kyoto, friends and I found a cute little spot for some warm drinks on that misty day. Through a craft store and up the stairs, we were surprised at how large the café was. It also had a nice comfortable atmosphere with wooden shelves, tables, chairs, and ground. I ordered the soy kinako honey hot drink, which was milky, lightly sweet, and delicious. I haven’t had anything like it before, and it came along with brown sugar on the side. Friends got chamomile herbal tea and ginger lemon honey, both of which were well done also. Walking around the café, we found some children’s books in Japanese(including Waldo/Wally and The Very Hungry Caterpillar), which we brought back to our table to «read» as we sipped on our drinks in comfy chairs. Overall, a nice place to relax and rest the feet after walking around, although a bit pricey and at present, prices do not include tax since being raised on April 1.
