Bijutsukan’ekikyouto

Thanks to this small gallery, I knew the existence of Kuma no Gakkou (Bears’ school) series. The exhibition of the original paintings of the picture book was held here. The number of the bears is twelve, or eleven boys and one girl. Each of them has distinct cute faces and features. At the first sight of them I was absorbed in the cute characters. Sometimes the works of new and powerful artists are held here.
Various genres of arts such as Western, Japanese, original paintings of picture books, photographs, table wares and the like, but I thought most of the parts was original paintings of picture books. Probably the exhibitions I went to see were mainly original paintings of picture books.
There are many advantages in this museum. First, its favorable location and easy accessibility. It is situated in a large department store, Isetan in front of JR Kyoto station. In the same way as other art galleries of major department stores, it is also on the seventh floor, higher floor. After shopping you can see the art works and have lunch on the floor close to the museum. (The restaurant floor is usually on the higher floor in department stores.)
It is not so spacious, small art gallery. It takes 30 minutes or so to see all the art works and within 1000 yen for admission. I always obtained a pair tickets of the exhibition and enjoyed a short-​time art experience here.
